Is there any way to mod the inquisitors out of the game? My current campaign is being ruined by the masses of these guys stalking the lands wiping out all my generals and even the king.

It reminds me of shogun with the out of control geishas.

I'm spending more time sending assasins at them than doing anything else, but the chance to kill them is so small it can take ages to kill even one. Kill one and another three show up.

Longer I play this game the more dissapointed I am becoming with CA.

Everyone seems to have trouble with these guys, on VH I have only seen 1 or 2 in my campaigns. Even being excom none have been sent to my lands.

So far I love those pesky inquisitors as they seem to concentrate on attacking countries I'am at war with:laugh4: .

I dont always like the Inquisitors, but I think that, when there arent ten of them hanging around burning EVERY charecter that comes their way, that they do a great job of adding to the atmosphere of the game, really recreating the feel of the Inquisition, although, admittidly, it wasnt quite that bad in most places :P

The Pope is more important than most people give credit.

I've read a lot of similar complaints on this board.

In my campaign, I've only had one inquisitor in my territory. Mainly because my relations with the Pope have always been among the top 3 of all factions.

Religion in this game is very important. From the start of your campaign have churches and priests everywhere. Do the Pope's missions and answer the call to the Crusades.

BTW the Crusades are great for your Generals and their sons. And a benefit of your relationship with the Pope is asking him to call a crusade. I took Antioch on the first Pope called crusade and wanted to expand my influence over the middle east. But everytime my General (with max Chivalry and 8 command, 9 Authority, 8 loyalty and 8 Piety all earned on his crusade) Antioch they rebelled, so finally I ditched Antioch and took Damascus. Then in Damascus I had the same problem. F-ing rebellions whenever I wanted to expand. Finally I took Jerusalem. In the process I lost both Damascus and Antioch, but now my General; Charles the Honorable, has two sons that came of age with qualities like him. Now I got the Pope to call a crusade against Acre, took it one turn after the Crusade was called. Now Charles the Honorable's first son is a great general with good rankings and his brother will begin the next crusade when available.

The moral of the story is: MAKE SURE YOU NURTURE A GOOD RELATIONSHIP WITH THE PAPACY FROM THE START.

Also try as hard as you can to get your enemies excomunicated. Provoke them into attacking your settlement after you both were warned by the Pope. Then call a crusade against them. Its foolproof.

Forgot to say:

Nobody expects the Papal Inquisition!

@ TS: I'm with you. I hope some modders will solve the problem. I would prefer not to remove the inquisitors but to increase killing chances for assassins. They are generally too low, even rebell captains are very hard to kill.

I think CA wishes to force everyone to play the game as intended, i.e. doing everything to please the old guy in Rome. Like it happened in the medieval world, hahaha. So you are not allowed to kill a main feature (inquisitor) of the game.

After installing Master Assassin Guild etc. and training my assassins on princesses of allied nations (it is ridiculous to have to do such things) I finally stopped playing the game. Chances for killing are still too low. At the end I found me saving the game, sending all my master assassins after one guy and reloading after the unevitable failure. Happened in VH, H or M campaigns in the same way. Great fun indeed.

By the way, such an inquisition is totally unhistorical. First: inquisition was not that uncontrolled killing of everybody not pious enough. Second: the greatest nonsence I ever heard in a TW game is one inquisitor (but I like this voice at least) saying that being king doesn't help against him. Ridiculous again. Please name me a king sentenced by inquisition. Name me a higher noble accused by an inquisitor if the king himself was not interested in the trial.

How are you guys doing this stuff, calling a crusade? I cant even find the pope! As for the inquisitors, they have never bothered me but what are their purpose? I see them hover around enemy settlements but not much else.

Click on the big faction button to the right of the screen. Then select the Pope tab. Then towards the top right theres a small circular icon with a cross in it. It is the "ask Pope to call a crusade" button. Then you select one of the cities they offer you (usually a rebellion held or mid-east city).

But be sure you've got an army and a General with solid Piety to go.

Violent Revolution is exactly right. Keep good relations with the Pope!!!! Give him gifts, do what he says. Have lots of priests which become cardinals which one day means your cardinal becomes pope.

Also keep the heresy level low in your lands through the use of your priests and cardinals. If your heresy gets high in a province, expect an inquisitor to show up.

If you keep the Pope happy and keep heresy low in your provinces, you will rarely have problems with the inquisition.

It is another part of the game which needs to be and can be managed.

Yeah I think there is a bug in the crusade system. Last time a crusade was called I quickly grouped a make shift band of crap soldiers together to make 8 units and clicked "join the crusade". Then after I joined I noticed the mercenaries changed and I could recruit some with amazing stats. So I did this and used the army to attack enemy settlements the entire crusade. After the crusade was over I received a message saying "You have been rewarded for your part in the crusades", the game gave me money and some bonus armies, and I never even left the shores of italy. Bug?

I don't think it's a bug. You don't always have to reach the target. Just as what happened historically, you can take advantage of the crusades to do something completely different from the "official" goal (4th crusade).

At least from my experience, the inquistors only show up when you don't keep a steady building program of churches, etc. I had neglected that and they started coming and burning. Once I started building again, they went off to bother someone else. At least that was my experience.

The only 2 inquisitors got off a boat in an island with 50 turns ago and they are still there, too bad there are no characters to kill. :p

i think they would not hound you so much if you were less of a heratic...
i have only seen a couple quisitors so far in my first camp. as france and my assassins were at 50ish % to kill them...i let them live however since the pope and my heir are lovers...

Nope.
You get a reward for talking apart of a crusade as well.
It's a minor reward but it is more of a "thanks for the effort" sort of thing.
