View Full Version : What do Merchant Cavalry Militia do?
They're a Militia Unit, which means you can use them in one of your free upkeep slots in a town. Once youstart to get advanced, you can have a nice mix of infantry, archers and cavalry as militia, whilst paying no upkeep for them :2thumbsup:

They are only gained through the Merchants Guild and are a militia 'Heavy' cavarly - however they have not got the high moral bonuses that are associated with most heavy cavarly units (they ain't Knights).

They are quite useful for chasing down routers, covering the flanks, shooing away archers etc. But not especially good at charging in and breaking up defensive lines (unless the defensive line is made up of peasants, in which case a particularly strong breeze would do the trick).
They are quite handy to have if you play as the English and have little variety in cavalry to start with.
oh, ok
i thought they had something to do with merchants/trading
