Ok in the MTW II forum some guy was talking about how , to avoid excommunication with the pope, he gave the pope some of his provinces for free.
My question is thus:
In MTW the papacy always expanded. Iin Rome the senate never did. If you gave the senate afew provinces would they start conquering more? Like if you gave them half of Greece would they start building armies to attack?

I don't think they would since if you play as the Senate, your goals are to have no territories so the computer would be trying to lose territories not gain any. Also, Rome is always losing money due to the huge Senate army and only one city to support it so the Senate would be in the red and probably couldn't build anything.

Ah but if you gave them a few rich Greek trading cities that had happiness so high that you need not even have a single unit to garrison them then what?

You've got a point there. You should try it! I suggest trying it on a lighter difficulty level, though.
Well in one of me Parthian campaing the senate bibred capua from me, and the AI Senate, always has money (regardles if Easy, med or hard dificulty)

I was playing as Brutii, but decided to turtle, teching my cities to highest level, building everything and conquering nothing. So after a loong time, I had 2 fully teched out cities, doing nothing. So i built 4 full stacks of guys to attack senate (which i couldnt) so they are sitting there losing money every turn. The Julii are being beaten badly by gaul, but the Senate moved up and took a gaul town (by accident, outside battle cause them to win it) So now the Senate owns Arretium and is moving up into gaul with experienced army!

Now thats something I never seen:2thumbsup: , could you post some Shots of how its develops? And I would realy want to see the situation on the balkan and in Greece whitout your interference

In an old campaign of mine the Senate attacked me after I started the civil war. They took over all of my Italian cities.

I believe the senate only attack if the enemy come within a certain distance of their cities (Rome) If you give them provinces, they will defend more agressively, but personally this seems like cheating to me.
I don't think they will ever expand by themselves

Thats true Myrddraal, they will not expand by themselves, but once they have taken some cities by accident (as happened on mine) they get more offensive...My campaign was buggy, (1.5) as the Brutii AI never go overwater and the Scipii take Sicily and never move...
