Hey guys, I'm mostly a computer noob here, sorry, but I was wanting to know my how CPUs affected M2TW's performance would hold up against my new computer. (opposed to my old one)

My old comp(3 years old)had
-512 RAM
-pentium 4 2.99 Ghz
-ATI Radeon x700 pro
Gameplay was about 15-30 fps no AA Trillinear AF High everything else.

My new comp
-1 Gb RAM
-AMD Athlon 64x2 4200 + Dualcore CPU w/ hypertranport tech (2.2 Ghz)
-GeForce 7900 GS SLI (256 mb each)

I realized my New CPU has lower clock speed. Can anyone tell me how my new comp will run. Also I've seen that most of the new CPUs have lower clockspeeds than the pentium 4. Why is this?

Hmm, the newer CPUs can do more math per clock I think, they have new layouts and thus can calculate more with lower clockspeeds.

But I would not got with those SLI cards, a single card that is not a GS will most likely give you more performance in most games than two 7900GSs.
I also hear one needs special profiles and so on to use SLI effectively in games and the additional speed can vary a lot. Though I have to say I am not an expert on both.

Then again I can tell you that you might want to go with 2GB RAM because games which need that are coming up I think.

All things being equal, single card > dual cards. In other words, $400 worth of dual cards will probably give you less performance and more headaches than a wisely-spent $400 single card.

Obviously, when talking about insane rigs with dual top-of-the-line cards, nothing can exceed that. But most of us don't live in that rarefied air.
