Hey guys, don't know if you've actually checked out and/or played with all the factions. If you haven't, I suggest looking at the Danes. They have 2 polearm carrying units wearing plate armour. One known as staff sword militia, and the other as an Obushaedar??? or something like that. Both can form a spear wall and prove very effective against other units. Not to mention they look cool. Very much changed from the first MTW. Suggest you check them out.

I've tried them but haven't goten to the top of the tech tree yet. Nor have I had the chance to use Sword staff militia. But I did not that the Danes have Huscarls instead of Mailed knights.

Yeah the Danes are actually very powerful and well situated for rapid expansion and establishment of a large trading empire. In my current game as Scotland the Danes have grown very powerful and really dominate northern Europe. Thats about to change though considering they just made the silly move of declaring war on me.

I've run numerous tests on the Obudshaers. From my tests they are EASILY the second best infantry unit in the game, second only to heavy jannisary. Nothing the Orthodox or Catholic nations field is even close.
