View Full Version : How many turns before you can have a new crusade?

Like the thread title says, how often can you declare crusades? How long do you have to wait before that "too soon since last crusade"-sign disappears? It seems to be about a dozen-ish turns, but does anyone have an exact number? IS there an exact number? I keep meaning to count it, but I always forget it.

How many turns do you have to wait between crusades/jihads?
I just finished a crusade as Venice against France. Sicily is now ex-communicated. I asked the Pope for a new crusade but the game responds "it is too soon to launch a new crusade after the old one".
How many turns before I will be able to request a new crusade?

I would like to know that too.
I think any crusader army out there must either be destroyed or disbanded for another one to be called.
I'd say around 10 rounds. I checked after a Jihad after 5 rounds he didn't allow a new one, so I'm just guessing. I'll declare a Jihad and check every round to see how long it really takes.

That is true, but it goes on long beyond that. How far beyond that? I don't know.
a new pope being elected does not cause the crusade timer to get reset.
I'm not 100% on this but it seems like it takes 20 turns and nothing else.
My story to back up my claim.
-I had a successful crusade to Jerusalem in the 20 something turn.
-10 turns later one of my cardinals became the pope.
-From the first crusade i was checking if i could launch a new one every 2-3 turns.
- in the 40 something turn i was able to request a new crusade.

The shortest timespan I´ve got between crusades is 15 turns. Anyone else?
Usually feels like around 20 turns for me but I've never actually counted. Not as short as 10 though - that's for sure; could be 15.

I would say 10 turns.
Because I started 3 crusades within 40 years. Add the turns for travelling to the target it makes perfectly sense.
MAybe the violence rating of the cardinal that became the pope has an influence on this?

While planing to use a crusade it is also worth to note that according to descr_mercenaries.txt file special crusader units are only available up to year 1300.
I actually wonder if it possible to even call a crusade after that date.
10 turns after the completion of the last crusade/jihad.

Magnums reply, 10 turns, is correct.
I'm with magnum and PseRamesses too. I counted in the past how many turns and it was 10 turns after the last crusade had ended.
Saves me checking if I can do it as now I just mark off 10 turns and when they are complete go and request a new crusade.

This is in the FAQ at the top, 10 turns is the shortest reported time between Crusades.

I note that this post is a year old...but yes it is possible. I successfully requested a crusade as the only catholic faction at turn 239 or there about ~;)
(I reckon that crossed news window can only be something regarding a crusade?)
