Just when I thought I had an advantageous position in Pavia with the artillery captured and five, albeit depleted, platoons ready to continue when the M2TW demo decides it is a draw. Thy real battle lasted 4 hours. Why could I not continue? Is this an artifact of the demo or the full game? Admittedly the Spanish were eliminated but that was my strategy, such as it was, since I could not control them let them stew in their own juice.

Ah, you were unfortunately not paying attention to the hourglass symbol above the Pause button...

...you only have a limited amount of time to win the Battle of Pavia.

Threw me for a loop too the first time I tried the battle and didn't notice it...

Luckily, you can turn the option for time-limited battles off in M2TW campaigns and custom battles if you so wish.

Another thing that escaped me at first was the French King. If he flees the battle, I believe that you cannot win, and it is immediately a draw.

That figures. I never read the small print and it usually gets me into trouble. The french king invariably dies although where he is or should I say was is a mystery to me. Can`t wait to start a campaign. Many thanks for your helpful replies.
