View Full Version : Take your pick!!!
okay, in the United States of America, if you were forced to serve in a branch of military for the rest of your life for some weird reason, which would you choose:
Army
Navy/Marines
Air Force
Coast Guard
personally, Air Force for me. I've always had a love for flying.
Coast Guard that's a do nothing job right?
Coast Guard. You have the least chance of dieing.
well, i knew someone would pick the Coasties.
My father was in the Cost Guard in Miami and on his ship alone had 4 people die just in one month. You have to be on the water for almost 6 months at a time. Picking up wrinkley Cubans was his job. Picked up over 700 in the 6 months.
He got moved to Washington near Seattle and had to deal with 20 foot waves and boats that flip over all the time. Had 8 crew men die at one time when a wave flipped over the boat. My dad almost died himself countless number of times. You never know intil you actually try it.
More deaths during peace time than all the other branches.
Army. I would become an infantry officer.
infantry huh? and an officer. kind of a frontlines person?. Anyone else?

Weird. I just posted about this in a backroom topic...
Air force. But due to my crappy eyes I can't (except being support personel of course)
Not too far behind, the navy. Ah, the open seas...

I'd never be a grunt, I'd like to be the one giving orders, and yes, if I had to serve, I'd be on the frontline.

I already serve in the Army here. I would be of no use anywhere else.

I like to be a officer in the Army.. What Rank are you Irish, btw??
If we can keep this generalised on the fanciful and the chick-attraction level of the various uniforms, that would be nice. Otherwise it might have to be moved.
Air Force
I want to sit in a lawnchair on the grass next to the runway all day and watch the planes take-off and land. I would be a specialist runway maintenance techician guarding against vegetative overgroth.
I would be the only vegetative overgroth there.

The equivalent of a Seargent First Class. I was offered a commision but I had to decline. Warman, keep the body strong, the mind stronger and get good marks and school. You need to impress the Military Academy upper echelon!

Air Force.
I would be an even more unresistable chick-magnet.
It would add to me as already being in good shape and having a decent set of brains:
The fancy pilot-uniform which will make clear to all the hot ladies that I really am in good shape and I really have a superior brain, without me having to prove it.
Hail to the King, baby!

Air Force, everyone knows they have it the easiest.

Marines they get swords and red stripes on dark blue uniforms, how can you go wrong with that?
Probably in the infantry arm of them as well, no idea why but that's what I think I'd choose.
any snipers out there. Navy and the Seals are probably your best bet for snipers.

Air Force – Being a pilot would be sweet but chances are I would be a support guy, which I wouldn’t really mind, I worked in, on and around planes for years and it was hard work but great fun.
Plus I am one of the only people I know that can do a manual weight and balance for a fully loaded 747 in less than an hour… BooYa!

Marines definitely have the coolest uniforms. :2thumbsup:

The Women's Auxiliary Ballon Corps. It can get very dangerous high up in the clouds, you know.

I would defect to the United Kingdom and endeavour for the Queen's Commission as an officer in the Life Guards or the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards. In the former I get to wear the red tunic, white breeches, horse-hair hat, sabre, and get to ride a horsey. In the latter I get to wear a red tunic, black breeches, and a bearskin hat, and a sabre...

Seriously, if I were to enter the armed forces, it would most definitely be in the Army (I can get both air and sea sick). However, as I am essentially a coward, I would prefer to be in the staff corps as an aide de camp, somewhere where I could use my brain which has always been superior to my physical strength. Of course, that somewhere would preferrably be a place where one could spend long evenings in the officers' mess with plenty of brandy and cigars.

I would join the Army as an infantry officer if I would join the US army, which is more probable even though I have lived here in the UK all my life (Im a US citizen). It would be cool to join one of the above mentioned regiments or similar, and I might consider that if I chose to join the UK army. One stroke against the British military is that they don't spend as much on their army as the US and their military is overstretched.
Duke Malcom. Where do you live? because I dont think anyone would let you "defect" to the UK anytime soon. you have a better chance of getting into the French or Spanish Legions than getting into the Horse Guards if you arent a citizen!
CNN had an article which i posted in my Military service thread, and its about how conscription in the USA is not as far off as it sounds. Congress are considering it.

I would agree that the Marines are cool BUT they would be the hardest regiment to get into because they are classed as Special Units.

I may have been misleading -- I said defect because the chap who started the thread said it had to be in the USA. A glance to the left will show my location as the People's Republic of Scotland. The Royal Scots Dragoon Guards (Carabiniers and Greys (3rd DG, Carabiniers, 2nd D) is my local regiment of (heavy) cavalry, and by far the finest (with the exception of the Household Cavalry Regiments).

I suppose it is all a matter of perspective, cool for you may not be cool for the ladies in the babe thread who I will bet would be far more impressed with a flight jacket. ~D

Thanks. I started out young though, so I have a lot of practice.
By a frontline person, do you mean you serve?

Excellent attidude!
I would probably want to serve on a ship this time around, getting my gold back and become a commander of one of those American queens of the sea; the Battleship.
Besides, the navy has the nicest uniforms (black with gold).
The last US battleship (The Missouri) isn't in service anymore. It's now a muesum at Pearl Harbor to show the start and end of WWII for the US in one place.
Yeah I heard about that... I would start a campaign to get one of them refitted for the 21st century or better yet; A new battleship class.
or maybe a command on one of these babies:
