After several campaigns as different factions I have these impressions:

Inquisitors are just too powerful and aggressive. Historically about the only nobles burned were burned by king not the church. You may find an exception or two but they had to be set up. Otherwise they would just kill the priest and dump him some place never to be found.

There are strange forces at work with out explanation. An inquisitor burned a five piety priest and I went from one down on the popeomeater to a three…this also gets back to the above. I could not ally with the Pope who was mine even though I was not at war with any one and maxed on the meter. Their one ally was France…who was neutral to me.

Those short comings aside I do like the game but it seems to lack the re-playability of the original. It is about the same as RTW, which isn't bad but it just seems to lack some intangible…. Some of the tech trees seem to lack a bit with out cause. When you build gunsmiths you expect to get something from it. I do enjoy most of the agent play other than inquisitors. I don't think they add so much to the game as they seem to frustrate the play. It is a much tougher game to manage then MTW or RTW. It would seem that you go from extremes of enough money to none at all and it is the same with how you are with the pope. No wonder Protestantism sprang up!!! If it were a game option I would select it and hang the counter reformation…but I guess that is what excommunication is about. It might be a hoot to play one where you take him out and see where he goes next.

The game has great eye candy and clicking on others forces was funny the first few time...not it is a bit irritating.
