View Full Version : expansion?
do you think CA will make an expansion for this game? They are ready made the VI one for the original, do you think they might remake that as well? It's kind of been a tradition to make an expansion, but what else could they do for the time period?
Maybe a big Protestant Reformation thing where Protestants pop up and Catholics have to battle them and every one else support them? I don't know i'm just throwing things out there.

Mabye they will open up more of the eastern proviences? All i know is i hope someone mods "China total war" during the 3 kingdoms era. Now THAT would be one heck of a TW game, mabye you could even play as japan or korea and just make is Shogun Total War 2.....it would most likely blow MTW out the wataer...an d then some!

Shogun TW done with this engine would be grand!!!
I am all for remaking Shoggy on M2 engine. It would be so sweet, I'd definitely buy it. I do not care about the amount of troop types so much, the atmospere of the feudal Japan setting is so inspiring that I'd play it even if it has only the same troop roster as the original STW.

Personally i'd like to see one based on Outremer. An expanded middle East, all the various Christian and Muslim states and of course it fits in well with the current game as you could keep many of those factions in.As well as the Pope who i find great in this game.

I could do with a number of developments myself :
- Pre-Columbian civs more fleshed out, with an expanded New World, playable from the start, or the different wars that happened over there between European settlers perhaps
- Extension of the timeframe a little bit (can you say Napoleonic : Total War ? )
- if focusing on one particular area à la VI, I'd vote for the Reconquista this time around
Then again, the game's been out for what, a week or two, and already we want an extension ? :laugh4:
It's still to early to be talking about an expansion really. There are still bugs that need to be worked on in M2TW.
But if there is more then likely it will be a colonial period expansion. They've done the viking period. Only sensible to expand to the colonial period and have the America's opened up all the way.

I think the logical expansion is "Pirates of the Caribbean: Total War" without full tactical naval combat (more's the pity). Well, not just the 'Crib, but the land-based colonization of North, Central, and South America, while trying to hold your European empire intact. It might even be a short download-only campaign like Alexander, to keep things from getting too big and messy in the Napoleonic era.
I'd love to see a China/three kingdoms game, or another Shogun, but those are major projects, not expansion pack material.
A new Shogun! In Japanese with subtitles! :jumping:

I'd be happy if they just added full-on naval battles.
And... to the people suggesting a remake of shogun.... do you fully grasp the concept of an expansion as opposed to a completely new game?
I really hope for a detailed map like VI, and that they bring the vikings back.

I'd like a Renaissance: Total War, extend the timeline another 100 years or so.

I know, I know. It's just very wishfull thinking.
Actually, Shogun would not be too hard to mod for M2 engine. All you have is different troops and a different map. You could have fewer units to make unit balancing a lot easier. All the agents would be somewhat useful in the mod too. Though one real tricky part would be the spread of christianity.
I suspect that someone outside the game developers may even undertake the shogun mod once the M2 basic game is patched up to standard.
I bet it will be a Renaissance: Total War.
Covering the timeframe from 1492 to 1648.
Thats 156 years, with 2 turns a year its 312 turns.
And you can add the conquest/colonization of america, reformation and religious wars in europe

I would like to see the Irish and the Welsh. If they do VI, I want it to be able to continue into the original campaign.

Well the only problem is there isent much to expand apon in MTW2 that cant be modded. And i know that people get pissed when (like rember VI) wasent much of an expansion at all, just a few new units on the main campagin map, and you could play a smaller map of england. I do hope to get newer units with more veriety and a few more playable nations and such, but i dont think the TW series shines with the era of professonal guntotting units because it dulls the combat.
Like i said, if anything they should just create Shogun 2 and let you fight on mainland china also, (there for makeing less proviences japanese).
