So do you like Dark, Milk or White?

I love white. It is creamier and sweeter than any of the others. Sadly it brings me out in a terrible itchy rash so I only have it as a rare treat. What it your favourite?

White and Milk are abominations. Dark is the only true chocolate.

Nuts are also of Satan when included in any food unless made into a cream.

Chocolate should always be combined with fruit. Chocolate covered strawberries, raisins, apricots etc. Ice cream or whipped cream is a good addition as well.

Smooth and creamy white chocolate. Love it. On the other hand, I can't stand dark chocolate. Too bitter.

Did you say... chocolate?

Chocolate!

Dark is best. But the heavy duty 80%+ dark chocolate I only find really enjoyable with good booze. Champagne is best. A fruity dark beer works well too.

The 50% to 75% dark chocolates are great all the time. Which is often.

Milk chocolate is good in cookies and chocolate bars. Snickers bars are best. And few things in life beat a good old fashioned chocolate chip/oatmeal cookie like mom used to make. :sweetheart:

My old man had a thing for white chocolate almond bark. It's ok, but only in small portions.

Of course I will take this suitable opportunity to declare my Kingship of the Chocolate Cookie at the Org. I will take on and defeat any member, be they Admin of noob, who thinks they can best me in a chocolate cookie eating contest. :knight:

Though I walk through the valley of the shadow of chocolate I shall fear no cookie, because I am the most hungry son of a ***** in the valley!

I'll take that challenge. They used to give out cookies after church. Greedily, I would sneak as many as I could get my hands on. My record was 15 and we only usually stayed for the 10 mins it took my parents to drink their coffee.

I said white with nuts (like me) but not some cheep Hershey’s crap I want the good stuff baby! ~D

Also, I recently had a white chocolate Toblerone, I don’t know if Toblerone is considered “good stuff” but I totally liked it. I found it at a hardware store of all places.

Hey, that's not nice yesdachi. I grew up in Hershey Pennsylvania. You're insulting my hometown.~;p The smell of that "cheep Hershey's crap" used to fill the air in town when I was growing up. It was heavenly. Alas, it is a rare day anymore that the chocolate aroma escapes the factories.

I like dark chocolate and milk chocolate. White chocolate is nice around Easter. My absolute favourite though is the Reese's Peanut Butter Cup. If peanut butter and jelly are a match made in heaven:love:, then chocolate is surely PB's mistress. :kiss2: :2thumbsup:

My sincerest apologies, oh lover of chocolate smells  my youthful infatuation with Hershey’s products has been ruined for me by the delicious treats sent to me by relatives from afar.

Only chocolate of + 50% with a special liking for the 71%.

And I may sound patriotic but I do prefer Belgian chocolate. As far as I know it has the highest amount of natural cacao butter in it.

Gregoshi
11-30-2006, 15:19
No problem yesdachi. I was just giving you a hard time. ~:pat: I'm sure the chocolates you got from distant lands were quite excellent. Most of Hershey's stuff is for the common, everyday treat, though they do make some premium chocolates that are quite a step up in taste and creaminess (but hard to find).

Why's my mouth watering now...

Chocolate with booze? Chocolate with beer?

 :shame:

Barbarian !:viking: BLASPHEMY !

Chocolate goes best with COFFEE !

You put your bar of chocolate (BELGIAN chocolate off course, may I suggest Côte d'Or) in your hot cup of coffee, put the slightly melting piece of chocolate covered with coffee in your mouth and enjoy...

Cheese, preferably Maredsous cheese, is to be eaten with beer. Maybe add some slices of salami.

But not chocolate! :whip:

For this one time I'll pretend I didn't read that post ~

 :shame:

Barbarian !:viking: BLASPHEMY !

I am a barbarian and I have the axes to prove it.

But I am also an experinced chocoholic and I understand that culinary purity is complemented by diversity, not harmed by it. My buddy bought me a beer called McCraken Flowers, a very dark, fruity beer. 9.5% octane. A bit of an aquired taste. Then he told me try it with some good dark chocolate. I did and it was pretty tasty.

Until you have imbibed expensive champagne and nibbled on good chocolate while keeping pleasent company :kiss2:, you are missing a crucial slice of life.

For this one time I'll pretend I didn't read that post ~

Hard to pretend you didn't read it when you're busy responding to it, eh?

I'm not talking about putting mayonnaise on a Snicker's bar, I'm saying the proper marriage of good booze and good chocolate is a heavenly pleasure you should try before discounting.

You have a point stating that I can't judge without having tried it.

Ok, I'll accept the challenge :duel:

I have this bottle of dark Ename Trippel in my fridge and since tonight we're going to the supermarket, I'll buy a packet of Cote d'Or chocolate.

I'll give you the results of my little experiment asap.

Since the third element of the experiment consists of sweet, pleasant company :kiss2:, I can't promise to give the results before tomorrow morning evening :eyebrows: :pimp2: And certainly not if I decide to try it also with those 5 bottles of Blonde Leffe, the 37,5 cl bottle of Gueuze and the 5 bottles of Ciney Blonde I still have in stock ~ (in that case, you'll have to check the Drunkards Thread :laugh4: )

The experiment with champagne will not be for tomorrow. Don't want to open that nice bottle of Veuve Cliquot yet...

It goes well with some wines as well, (very)dark chocolate with a good pinot noir, excellent.

Dark, as dark as possible. I like my chocolate just as I like my coffee, it has to be little in quantity and very concentrated.

This is not to say I do not enjoy the other kinds, but if given the choice, i will go for the darkest one available.

I'm encouraged to see that my fellow orgah's have the good taste to vote dark chocolate into the lead. The with or without nuts option was a little confusing since I like it equally either way and could not vote for both, but oh well. White chocolate doesn't count as chocolate AFAIC. My favorite readily-available here in America variety is Lindt 70% dark. I've tried cocoa levels up into the 90's, but I guess I'm not quite as hardcore as I'd like to think. 70% seems just about perfect to me.

sugar is bad for you.
That's kind of like saying that food is bad for you. Your body survives by burning sugars. The fats and proteins you eat must be broken down and converted into simple sugars before they can be used for energy. Sufficient quantity of less useful sugars can be unhealthy, but so can sufficient quantity of water.

Thou shalt not steal? I could hardly steal the whole plate. I was being discreet. :wink3:

And what place, pray tell, does discretion have when discussing chocolate?

Of course you should have stolen the cookies. If a child/boy/man cannot steal a chocolate cookie, then what joy is there in desire, greed, and gluttony? They are the very foundations of a man's inner self.

Dark. I'm a bitter person:
I like my chocolate bitter
I like my drinks bitter
I like my coffe bitter
I am bitter
My family is bitter
Hell only thing not bitter in my life is my wife, because: the only bitter thing I hate is bitter people.

Chocolate!

The only real way to respond.:P

Dark chocolate will have my loyalty, but when I have the craving for chocolate confectionery, it 'hits the spot' more than dark chocolate will ever do.

That said, dark chocolate w/ orange is really good too.

sugar is bad for you.
Actually sugar does have some nutrients: It is made up purely of Carbohydrate and provides a large energy boost should you be needing one (thats why I always carry a small sachet in my pocket for me to have when I get tired). Any you can buy Chocolate/Alternatives without Sugar (I think :inquisitive:).

If we throw some pics in here this could end up like the Babe Thread.

I bought this book for a girlfriend years ago. The photos are as sensuous and lascivious as anything Penthouse ever published. One cake, Death by Chocolate, which the book is named after (the one on the cover I think), they suggest taking two days to make. The simplest recipe, one for chocolate cookies, is still an elaborate affair in the culinary arts.
