So a couple of turns ago, the Danish heir says "hey English fellow, knock off my father, the King and I'll give you 5000 florins. I think, fair enough. The only problem is the King of the Danes happens to be standing toe to toe with one of my generals. My only assassins in the area are newbies, so they're not ready to kill a king. I decided to give it a few turns and see if King Thorkel would decide to leave my land. 3 turns go by and he is not budging. I checked and double checked to see if he was blocked in, but no, he was just being stubborn. Needless to say I didn't want to wait any longer so I attacked, slaughtered the army and took the King hostage. Deciding that the ransom for the King (12500) was higher than the Reward for killing him (5000) I tried to ransom him. Ransom was refused, so off with his head.

Then I get a message from the Danish heir saying that his father is no longer alive, so he doesn't need my services. Hello? Olaf? I killed your dad.

My point is that the mission message doesn't say you need to use an assassin to kill him, just that you have to kill him. So if you want the Reward, don't do it this way. It doesn't work.

Actually on the scroll that gives the mission it will say "assasination" on the top and that is the way you need to accomplish this. Its kind of the same way when the merchants guild needs you to acquire the assets of some merchant. Killing him would remove him too but thats not how they operate unfortunately...

Actually what is really fun is when the pope wants you to assasinate some heretic or another. Apparently their too dangerous to be burned in public or something or no priest is skilled enough to take the man on.
