View Full Version : merchants - quick and basic question
does a merchant have to stand on a resource ie amber to receive any florins from the resource?
or can he go from resource to resource and still receive income from each one?

If I understand your question correctly:
A merchant arrives on amber on turn one. You hear him say "establishing trade," or something like that. You hit the next turn button. You get the florins from trading amber.
The next turn, you move him from amber to furs. You hear the "establishing trade" or "money to be made here" comment. You hit the next turn button. You get the money from furs.
However, if it takes you longer to get from amber to furs in one turn, you do not get the income from amber while travelling to furs, if I understand correctly.
aha so you only get income from the resource you're standing on?

I believe that is correct, but it should be easy to check.
Stand on a resource. Check your agent to make sure he's "trading amber in Novogarod," or whatever. Move him, then check again. If he's not still trading amber, we'll know I'm right.

or via acquisition when taking over another merchant - but THAT merchant does NOT have to be standing on a resource.
(And remember to aovid the distance-to-capital-modifier bug , so if you load up a game move your capital elsewhere and back or you wont get the full income from merchants)
