I have been contacted by Legio by email that he has been banned from the forum again. It would appear to him that this has happened without warning - either on the boards or by PM. His query is - has this happened by mistake or a problem with the software or has he done something to offend. if it is the latter then surely he should be told what his offence is.
Legio is leading the 17th century interactive in the chapter house currently - an activity which is very much at the heart of what is so good about this forum and is, in my opinion an excellent piece of work. The participants very much want this to continue on this forum, but this current problem with Legio is meaning that there is a strong posibility that it will move to another forum - which will be a significant loss for this forum.
Could somebody explain what is happening please?

I think we could expand the game on another website, add more detail, make it more fun, go to the website, check it out! But if this was a technological mistake, I am pretty disapponted, but happy that legio isnt ban. I hope it is an technology mistake! We are here supporting you legio! Dont worry, you have a colony of fans!

A certain other member was recently demoted and banned, possibly via IP ban. It may be that the IP address extended (accidentally) to Legio's IP. That really is my best opinion on the matter, since I dont know anything else that could have caused it.

He's been demoted to a junior member as far as I can see. If he also can't log in then he may have been banned. If he can't see the board at all he's been IP banned from the server. If he sees just a basic screen informing him he's banned when he accesses the forums without even attempting to log in, he's been IP banned from the Vbulletin CP.

It may have something to do with a post about "infanticide" that he made in here, around 2 days ago I think, trying to explain himself. Who knows? The post is gone now I think?

Also, I'm not trying to be offensive here, but the "reinstate our man or we will be forced to take our work elsewhere" approach comes across as quite arrogant, and is nothing short of blackmail. I have no doubt whatsoever that the admin won't respond to that one, and I think that those involved should retract their statements. It is highly possible that the admins were thinking along the lines of "this member is an asset" anyway. Now that you've put it into words, as a thinly veiled demand, it's less likely to go your way.

I think it's sad that he's been banned again, considering the contribution he's making to that thread, but I do feel that he can't be simply 'pardoned' because of that. Until we understand the reasoning behind it, and the duration there should be calm.

If the moving of the interactive to another forum came over as a threat then that was not the intention. My point was that Legio's interactive is a good part of what goes on within the forum and it would be a real shame to loose it. Legio was close to moving it last time but we persuaded him to keep it here because that is where we want it.
Our concern is that he has been banned by accident due to a software problem, so my post was principally to ask if that was the case. If he has been banned for something else, then he does at least deserve to be told why that has happened.

tbh Legio's post in the thread in the watchtowers backroom wasn't the most wise thing to do after coming back from a ban

I'm not party to Legio's account details, but I think I can shed some light on the warning/temp-ban system, without compromising it, or staff intent.

The warning points one accumulates are cumulative over time. When one's account reaches a certain threshold of points, the account is automatically temp-banned. The length of that temp-ban doubles with every subsequent temp-ban. So, if one gets 3 warning points & a 2-day temp-ban, then is restored to full member, the next warning or two can trigger an auto 4-day temp-ban - and the next an 8-day temp-ban, and so on. Each warning point also increases the account flood-control (amount of time allowed between successive posts).

My guess (and this is purely my speculation) is that Legio is serving out his time on a 2nd or more temp-ban. He'll be back, in time. Meanwhile, perhaps one of his collaborators in his interactive thread would volunteer to cover for him during his absence.

Able to log in, but can't post? I don't see anything that would stop him to do so.
