I found I can rename a city or castle by simply clicking on its name in the city build panel. Once I conquered Tunis while playing Spain and changed the name to Carthago.

Just a heads-up to all who may be interested.

What I Usually do is change the name to:
OldName - Use - Priority

This way i never forget which castle i'm suppose to use for training infantry, cavalry, .. etc.

Great. I can't wait to conquer and rename Paris. I'll give you a hint: it also starts with p.

This was also in BI... I'm surprised that neither myself or anyone else really tried it out until now. I guess as few places will have new names soon.

I was disappointed because I acquired Paris from the Danes through a peace deal. I wanted to level half the city and sack the rest.

I figured it out when I clicked on Caesarea. Then I changed it to Mazerkit. Just for kicks.:beam:

I might have to rename my Turkish settlements too!

I'm about to take gay Paris in a Crusade. The Frenchies have been naughty. I guess it also helps to have 7 cardinals to gain some Papal Favor. I can't decide if I'll name it P------ or Little London.

Awesome!!! Thanks guys, this really helps.

And Ice, don't make me drag you into The Backroom so I can thrash the *EDIT - (thanks Condormanius)* Francophobia out of you. ~;)

I think the term you are looking for is Francophobia.

Very nice, and thank you CA for this feature. I won't mess with the Old World (because I don't know that much about the history), but the first thing I will do when I reach the New World will be to remove that awful "Miccosukee" name from Florida (they were NOT there at that time!), and replace it with either Apalachee or Caloosahatchee.

Then I will replace "Caribbean" in Cuba with "Habana":

(quoting from the Wikipedia entry on Havana):

"Habana, patrimony of dark origins that could derive from Habaguanex, name of an Indian chief that controlled that area, quoted by Diego Velasquez in his relation to the king of Spain. A legend narrates that Habana was the name of Habaguanex's beautiful daughter [1], but no known historical source corroborates this version."

P.S. yeah, this can be done with modding too... but it's a nice incentive for capturing territory, if you really feel a strong urge to rename something. :beam:
