The folder \battle\maps\smap isn't used by the game. I just deleted the \smap folder, and my game still works.

If you installed the mappack to \battle\maps\smap then you ended up with a \battle\maps\smap\battle\maps folder. The maps are supposed to be put in the \battle\maps folder. The mappack install puts the \battle\maps prefix on the path, so you should give the main game folder as the path for the install.

In any case, maps won't give an Egypt FN error. Something else is wrong, but you game worked before you did that delete. So, go to the recycle bin and undelete whatever it is that you deleted.

yup m8, I did that, and still gave me the same ploblem... I had a backup copy on VI, which I took the time to make a copy of before this happen, and I was able to have it work, but I could not get on MP sadly though....

On Sunday, you joined a Samurai Wars game that CBR hosted. So, you did get on MP, and it the mod worked. You couldn't join the big multiplayer game because you didn't have the map.

Installing the maps won't break the game even if they get installed to the wrong folder. Deleting \smap won't break the game either. You did something else, and that broke the game.

Now you are saying that you had a backup copy of a working VI, but it doesn't work. How can it not work if it was a backup of a working VI? Maybe it wasn't a full backup. How are you making the backup?

The Backup copy, I just copy the whole entire folder when I just installed the normal mod, without the mappacks (when it screwed up)..

The original mod install worked. You made a backup copy of that before installing the mappack, but the backup copy doesn't work?

OK. Copy the LogonDetails.cfg and MultiplayerDetails.cfg files from the main game folder of the version that does allow you to logon to the backup copy.

I'm glad you got the mod to work Warman, and got a chance to play last Sunday. I watched the replay of the battle where Tosa, CBR and you defended vs Methias, Tomi and R'as. I noticed you closed up very tightly with CBR, who had set up on the high ground forward at center which shows you're thinking in terms of supporting your ally which is good. Keep in mind that you can keep more separation between armies in Samurai Wars than in RTW, and that overlapping units will not stay like that. One of the units will move until it's not overlapping another unit. I don't know if that happened in this game, but it's something players try to avoid.

I think the attackers have two strategies they can adopt given the set up and terrain. They could focus a full scale attack on CBR at center or they could doubleteam Tosa on their left where the ground is more favorable in an attempt to draw the defenders off the central high ground. The second strategy might require that R'as move to center so that he can protect the center attacker's right flank, and so that he himself doesn't become isolated. By observing the attacker's initial movements, it appears that Methias on the left wanted to adopt the center attack strategy, but Tomi in the center wanted to adopt the left side attack strategy. In the end, Methias attacked alone, then Tomi engaged and finally R'as. This strategy didn't have much chance of success since each army was routed before the next one engaged. An echelon attack can be successful, but the timing is critical.

Echelon Attack - A refused advance on an enemy position, meaning that the advance occurred in sequence from right to left or vice-versa in parallel but nonaligned formations. Ideally, an echelon attack would compel the reinforcement of those parts of the enemy line first assailed thereby weakening the latter parts and increasing the chance of breaching them.

Hey,

yea, thanks m8. In the First Game, it seems like Methis and Tomi was isoalted away from Ras, so when Ras finally came in, I did a nice bit of damage on him untill he flanked me with his no-dachi, (which I never saw coming lol). Second game was harder, since Tomi and them had the (slighty) higher ground. Very good team games I say :-)
