Milan v Mongols in the Holy Land - SaveGame

My Milan campaign recently hit an interesting point, and I thought anyone who hasn't been in a similar situation before might be interested in taking a whack at it.

Bascially, after acting as true Catholics and going on Crusade, Milan has now been left with substantial holdings in the Holy Land - whilst still battling on against Egypt.

Suddenly, into this mix the Mongol horde arrives, pointed straight at Antioch, the seat of the Milanese faction heir and great crusader.

See if you can turn back the Mongol tide before Antioch falls.

Game is VH/VH, there's a Milanese pope (for as much good as it does me), war only with Egypt.

The Holy Land: (Jerusalem was reached by the Hungarians first, who then let it rebel - the Milanese army sent there also rebelled, so it's now a funny mix of Magyar, Milanese and Saracen).

Wow... what has happened with the HRE? The Danes seems to be walking all over them.

Danes have whooped HREs ass in every campaign but my current one. In my current one I'm Milan, so I really wish the Danes would attack and open up a second frony :shame:

Anyway nice save ER, unfortunately I think I'd just get my assed kick on vh/vh, plus I've already got a milanese one running atm :dizzy2:

I had a similar situation in my Milan game, i was very fortunate however that the mongols were slightly north of where they are in your game. i was able to hold the first four armies at the bridge over the euphrates that is just east of Aleppo. i was able to feed reinforcements in and defeat 3 of the 4 armies quite convincingly. it was only later that they took another route and had several armies go south around my force. I managed to blood one army in an assault on damascuss, then later meet it in the field and decimate it with the knights of St John, but that still left four full armies rampaging around the holy land.

I was forced to pull back to acre and Antioch, then, deciding that it was a bit of a fools errand to try to take them on (france, the HRE and Hungary declared war), i abandoned all my holdings and moved my armiews towards the balkans by ship.

Meeting them in the field is a bit like commiting suicide, you have to give ground and hope you can catch their army and take it down piece meal
