Kidding aside, though, it's possible the MH has been suddenly infested with bots. While Warluster could very well be correct in that Medieval 2 has spurred increased interest in its older sibling--I've noticed a discernible uptick in the number of visitors to the Main Hall the last 3-4 months--I doubt the interest in MTW1 has increased by that much. (Though if wishing made it so.... ~;p)

I'll try and keep an eye out to make sure we're not getting flooded with spam there, just in case.
