In countless bridge battles on the Nile, the Egyptians have never ceased to amaze me with their tactic of attempting to push their artillery across the bridge and through my defences, never once trying to use them for their proper purpose ie firing them.
The amphibious trebuchet is obviously a radical but misguided rethink on the use of artillery. I was so looking forward to it emerging on my side of the river but at just over half way the crew ran away with the rest of their lily livered chums.
Another interesting one off tactic - sadly no pic - was a trebuchet being pushed along the side of the bridge parapet at 90 degrees, hanging over the water and being righted halfway across, apparently avoiding catapult fire from the other side of the bridge.

"Hush ! We're trying to be inconspicuous here ! The lord said we had to flank them incognito, with stealth and cunning and by GOD we will ! Now swim, shut up, hold your breath and think of the effect our boulders will have when they hit their unsuspecting backs ! I tell you, the lord is brilliant."

As Byzantines, changed my idea of conquering the Polish and encountering the HRE. Now heading towards the remnants of the Egyptians. The Nile. The trebuchet. The :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: :wall: :wall: :wall: :laugh4: :laugh4: :laugh4: :egypt:

GAH!

Vanya routinely sends His culverins and basilisks to cross rivers just for fun!

With His divine inspiration, they even manage to fire off a couple of shots despite being submerged. That is what Vanya calls dedication!

Little did the Moors know that the Egyptians had invented the SCUBA gear in the year 1100. Even now their elite Trebuchet crews are pushing their engines towards Cordoba... FROM UNDERNEATH!

Welcome back Vanya, haven't seen you in a while(you may not know me, but I know you~;) ) .

Well, that trebuchet pic is hilarious, but I wonder about them running away, my enemies defend their siege weaponry better than their king usually, maybe they get a morale hit underwater?:idea2:

I know this is off-topic, but why do your unit cards appear in one row?
Mine appear in two rows, and I would like it better your way.
Is it a matter of resolution? I thought I had maxed mine, but maybe I forgot.

Tuidjy, this is because they are using the minimal UI.

Inspired by the above:

(sung to the tune of Yellow Submarine by the Beatles)

(yes I know it doesnt' rhyme, zip it!)

In the campaign where I began,
Lived a King who couldn't see,
And he told us to assault,
With our soggy trebuchet, :fishbowl:

So we lurched into the water,
As we found the Byzantines,
And we trudged beneath the bridge,
With our soggy trebuchet, :fishbowl:

We all love our soggy trebuchet, :fishbowl:
Soggy trebuchet, soggy trebuchet, :fishbowl:
We all love our soggy trebuchet, :fishbowl:
Soggy trebuchet, soggy trebuchet, :fishbowl:

This thread is officially in the gutter. I approve.

A couple more of the same revolutionary tactic in action.

The initial wrong turn.

The final resting place. Note 0% damage!

I believe if you have the battle timer set to unlimited, and leave the machine running for several years, it will eventually start to take damage from rot.

I've noticed the AI using their artillery in a similar way - and it working perfectly. There's my nice defensive line at the end of the bridge, ready for yet another tedious massacre, and then the AI decided to push their cats across the bridge in front of them, walking them right through my infantry and completely screwing up my lines, turning what would have been an easy if boring bridge defense for me into a close run massive infantry scrum. Bug, or clever move by the AI? On previous form, I'd say a lucky bug...

There is no such thing as a swimming trebuchet.
This screenshot clearly shows the existence of a portable fata morgana-generator and thus the first optical camouflage built by men!

Well

At least the swimming units feature is back in.

Well historians often discovered weapons throw in lakes and rivers by the ancient celtic pagans as part of a sacrifice or ritual. What you are seeing here are some more modern pagan worshippers amongst the ranks of the enemy, taking the weapon sacrifice to new levels. No doubt after you dispatched the idiots, they were rewarded with one great big post-life party by their grateful gods.

How completely misinformed can you be?!? This is clearly an example of the highly advanced AI that CA has programmed into this amazing game. Those screenshots depict the activities that were the precursors to the WWII Frogmen, who were in turn precursors to the US Navy SEALS, and several other special forces groups. Except this is Medieval. With big siege equipment. In broad daylight. Err.. wait.... ~

PS: The concept in your sig needs to be submitted in the patch wishlist thread. Beard O' Grapes is an outstanding idea for character diversity in M2TW! Hat of Bananas, here we come!

Those wacky Egyptian alchemists are at it again! From the team that brought you amphibious trebuchets comes.... remote controlled, gravity defying ones, using the bridge as cover from Moorish cannon fire (not that it did the rear one much good).
