I remember when I first started playing RTW, when you charged into lightly armoured infantry with horse ( of pretty much any type ) or of course with elephants the receiving end actually took damage and in some cases were thrown with a nice display of graphics
I love what youve done with EB and was wondering if one of the patches elimated this graphic or some such
I just started a campaign as the Getai. I charged into a band of german archers with my general, killed one, and the charge stopped. They weren't pursuing the unit so that wasn't an excuse. They had a full out charge from about 100 yards away and thats the outcome.
Sure if the unit is waivering and I hit it from behind they'll rout, but what happened to the hammer and anvil tactic being crazy effective? and where did that graphic go?

Its all to do with mass, we haven't got rid of the animation. I have tremodous success taking out skirmishers with the heavy cavalry of Thessalia. I'm not sure about the generals of the getai, they may well be medium cavalry and thus not as effective as the cavarly of the east or the Hippeis Thessalikoi.

Don't the Getai still use the same Greek GenBG cavalry as the KH ?

horses need improvment especialy the heavy hitting ones. They just cant break a phalanx unit when charging from the rear while the phalanx is engaged.

I seem to recall that with 1.5 patch it is useful to single-click on the enemy you want to charge - apparently they now have to align themselves correctly to do maximum damage. Also they get tired if you just charge them over too long distance, this is also fixed by single-clicking :yes:

blank, I believe that's identical to the M2TW charges. People seem to be having the most trouble because they double-right-click on a unit to charge, not realizing that the change has been made already.

I already know about single click but the problem is that even with that, Parthian Kataphract charging the rear of a phalanx unit result in very few casualties...and the visual effects seem strange:only the first two lines really hit the enemy while the others seem to simply join the fight when the charge effect is finished. Shouldn't the most powerful cavalry unit be able to do a devastating charge from THE REAR?!

well the formation is too spread out for the cataphracts. in historical records it says that they charged with riders being KNEE TO KNEE so what i did was make the unit formation more tight. I also made the charge, and horse mass more.

I also noticed all cavalry in the EDU have mass value of 1,wasn't 1 normal infantry charge? Did you changed mass value in the EDU or in desr_mount?

You're right i've tried raising mass value and now charges really broke enemy lines!! :charge:
I hope EB team is going to raise these values too in a next build...
