View Full Version : Hangs or Crashes when starting a Campaign
I started a new thread because apparently my problem is related to theirs in "Problem with campaign". But depending on the faction I attempt to begin with it either crashes or hangs. I know there was a post about a long load time and leave it for a few minutes, well on hangs I left it for between 15-20 minutes and eventually it froze and I had to restart. When it crashes I get a debug for Visual Studio but when I press to debug it's an empty file. Just says exe error in RomeTW.exe line 2160. I don't know if it is RAM related because I have 512MB but I ran v0.74 fine and I run RTW and M2TW fine as well. It hangs at almost half loaded, btw. Thanks in advance.
make sure that map.rwn is being generated in eb/data/world/maps/base/
If it is not you will need to reinstall the game.

how big is a properly generated map.rwn? Mine is 8mb which I'm assuming isn't nearly what it's supposed to be.
Could I just get a pregenerated map.rwn from another person using EB v0.8?

Go to the folder Foot mentioned and delete map.rwn. Try restarting the game.
RTW generates a new map.rwn whenever you start a new campaign. Sometimes a pre-existing map.rwn can cause problems when attempting to start a new campaign.
Not a bad idea, I tried it a couple times with the same result, and the same exact file size of 7.26mb. I'm going to try a reinstall now, and just hope for the best.
nope... curse it all to hell, I'm just going to cry in a hole. :(

Isn't the file called map.rwm?
Thanks for all your help everyone. I finally got it to work, playing it over BI. What was happening was when I installed RTW it went in at 1.5 - then when I installed BI over that it bumped it back down to 1.3 for some reason. So I patched RTW to 1.5 and made sure BI was at 1.6 and now everything's fine. Beyond fine, hell it's an incredible game. I really appreciate you higher ups taking time out of your busy MOD-life to help a plebe such as myself.
That might be teh solution for your problem

Custom battles work like ussual, campaign game make CTD.

I deleted the map.rwm, no use.
Yeah, it's map.rwm, it was a typo -- I wasn't deleting the wrong file.
A follow up. I went home from college for Winter Break and I installed the mod on my home computer and it is working. This seems to be a not so generic case where the EB mod hates my hardware.
