Hmm... sounded like the last one, but at least they say something.

So we are not likely to get the patch until the new year?

So much for it being out this week, i suppose were looking at mid next week? i wonder what other errors they ran into? seems like they are haveing a big issue with patching and then creating an error and haveing to patch that error just to simply find out they possibly created another. When he says "It has been a frustrating time for us all" i belive him, i think there pretty upset over at CA at the progress of the patch.

I hate to state the obvious but CA really should have released a small but simple 'day zero' patch that fixed the horrendous passive AI bug and any other issues which were identified and fixed immediately after the game went gold. Obviously there are a slew of other issues which also require fixing but the passive AI bug is a real show stopper in my book; it effectively halted my desire to play the game! Personally I think waiting nearly a month to issue a patch that fixes a major bug which was identified and fixed prior to the game being released is taking a serious risk with one's reputation. In the time that has passed since the game was released the TW community is clearly up in arms over that single bug, I've lost count of the number of posts made by newbies complaining about it on the official and unofficial forums. Releasing a small patch immediately upon release would have gone a long way to control the number of bug related complaints.

Anyway it seems that CA and Sega prefer to issue a few large, all encompassing patches instead of several smaller ones over the same period of time.

One good patch that fixes things without breaking things I can certainly wait for. Overall I am very pleasantly surprised with how good M2TW was to begin with, patch or no patch, so I am more than happy to give them some leeway.

Though I really want the unpacker so modding can begin in earnest...

it's nice to get an update, although it reads to me like maybe at the end of next week, or even the week after. I'm pretty sure the qa department doesn't work during the weekends.

what i said last week on the previous update seems spot on, don't hold your breath for the patch release day

They said before that SEGA gets 2 weeks to test it which would still make it before Dec 25. I suppose SEGA could push it through in a week if they feel its urgent to get the patch issued.

That is what happens from my experience participating on their beta teams. In addition, there are problems introduced that get missed during the testing because there is so much to test that you run out of time. For example, the RTW v1.2, v1.3 and v1.5 patches all introduced new bugs that weren't noticed during the testing.

I would sure hope they consider it urgent considering they have been talking about these problems since before the game. And more the reason to release the patch now, becuase it seems that no matter what they do there will be some sort of error. Im all for a big patch, but if its going to have problems "reguardless" i dont see the point of holding it back.

Dont play atm, realistically CANT play atm (no point with the combined issues) and another 2 weeks until "the day zero patch".

oh my.

Another 2 weeks? Dont forget the Xmas holidays. If we get it before mid Jan I would be very surprised.

As someone with more info on this than other people(i have my sources and i ain't naming them), i can safely say that the patch WILL be soon, and days not weeks(and yes, should be within a week).

This is apparently the second time the patch is in QC testing as they used that excuse before. Last time it would be out in days but it has been weeks. This latest patch news is nothing more than a skipping record playing the same old tune over and over again. There is no other information except a bit of sympathy for us poor frustated users. It couldn't possibly be that many of us are angry that we bought a broken game and we are getting strung along about a patch.

I am certainly going to be vocal about my thoughts on this in the other sites I frequent.

I suppose it hasn't occured to you that maybe they encountered new bugs in testing, and so they had to fix them and start the testing process again?

The gripe is that it is always 'in a few days' which leads to inevitable disappointment and moaning. Yes things take time etc but they made a rod for their own back with 'Day 0 release' which is now day 27 (ish)

Not a lot we can do really. I still have the odd bash at the game..but it gets frustrating when the feeble AI just rolls over and takes what you dish out..most of the time.

I even tried playing as scotland...but they wiped out the english easily...

And seiges continue to annoy..as do the cavalry/billmen problems.

CA have no excuses really at this stage....no doubt they have run into problems..most of which could have been avoided if they playtested the game properly.

10 mins into MTW2...I noticed problems...what does that tell you!

it tells me that every new title they release has more problems than the previous one.. I don't recall that many outstandin' bugs with RTW and the day 0 patch was on time too?
