As you can see, I'm new to the forum. I've been playing MTW like mad the past few weeks, and have been checking on the forum for almost the same amount of time.
However, one thing annoys me. I play TW games long, and take my time to play the campaign. Problem is, the game ends at a certain date. 1450 or so, I think. My question is, is there anyway to alter the campaing ending date? If this thread is in the wrong section, please move it.
Welcome to the Org & the Main Hall, Irishfusilier! ~:cheers:
Although I myself am not a modder (and therefore couldn't tell you how), I know that it's relatively easy to change the end date of 1453.
I have little doubt that one of our fellow patrons here will stop by and tell you how you can mod the end date. In the meantime, however, I recommend you check out the Repository (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=39)--odds are very good you'll find the answer there.

Many thinks for the welcome Martok.
I have found a way of changing the end year in the Repository, however I cannot find any "campaign.txt" I need to edit. Also the thread, something like "a guide to modding", (if i remember) concerns making a totally new campaign, for the purpose of making a mod. This, I think, is why i cannot find the file in question.
No matter, though, as I'm sure the fellow patrons will have a suggestion for me soon.

Ah, I think I've found a solution, over at gamefaqs.
"Quite simple, and effective way to give yourself an extra 1000 or so
years/turns so you don't have to rush or worry yourself. After all, Rome
wasn't conquered in a day! Neither will be Europe! Hellz no!!!
Open up the period textfile you want to play, at the top there is a place for
Start Date, simply delete the last digit of each year. For example, in
High.txt, it's like this:
SetStartDate:: 1205
SetPeriod:: HIGH
SetEarlyPeriodStartDate:: 1087
SetHighPeriodStartDate:: 1205
SetLatePeriodStartDate:: 1321
Right? So change it to this:
---> SetStartDate:: 120
---> SetPeriod:: HIGH
---> SetEarlyPeriodStartDate:: 108
---> SetHighPeriodStartDate:: 120
---> SetLatePeriodStartDate:: 132"
I am yet to find out whether this will work in the middle of a campaign or when beginning a campaign. I'll try tomorrow though, as I need to go now.
By the way, there are some good things over at gamefaqs. Somebody made a guide of EVERY SINGLE UNIT in the game, and wrote EVERY SINGLE THING there is to be known about each unit. Believe me when I say it is a long page. It'll take 5 minutes to scroll down it! I'm concerned about the guys health actually...

That's nice and all, but is there anyone who knows if it is possible to alter the end date? I'd prefer 1492 over 1453, gives you a few extra years of developing.

You might want to check out our MTW Guides section. The Unit Guide and Beginner's Guide are what brought me here to the .Org in the first place.
