- Peace and Prosperity-
http://www.horsebows.com/archers/horse6.jpg

During the reign of Zipoetes the samaritian lands expanded great lenthgs. The veteran horse archers ruled the entire steppes and new buildings were constantly being built, it is a happy time. Bandits were cleared off the newly formed roads and trade flourished, there was even a great navy ; something unheard of before. When the Thracians decided to backstab us -reports say they were not sober at the time the decision was made- Joy swept threw the land as plunder and loot awaited, as they did. Under the new faction heir Ara, the thracians were swept aside unmercifully, and their army in shambles.

As seen clearly, our magnifcent horse archers.

The battle wasnt a contest.

minimul casualities, mostly do to Ara being new to the family trade and not handling the archers properly.

But all was not well in the steppes. Though the land was productive for the first time in history, it was too....easy. And the great king Zipoetes knew it. Their was no struggle to survive anymore, and every steppe person knew how to survive very well. If this went on, he knew, they would all become fat lethargic men like the macedonians or the impudent greeks. So He called a council together at the capital.

The council took place at the capital, A huge table was set up with great food, luxurios gold cups, and fantastically sexy slave woman -who were thracian I might mention  - were all around, enough for every noble and other goverment officials; though wine was left out, he wanted everyone to be sober at this meeting. Every noble was requested to come during the summer, they were only gone a few weeks from their posts so it had barely any affect on their governing. The feast was superb, and the meeting got started off well.

"My great and noble soldiers" He roared. Instantly a jumble of shouts and banging on the tables commenced as they cheered this compliment. The king continued "I am a old man now, 70 to be exact". He drew a long breath, even though he prepared the speech a head of time his mind was spinning on what to say. Finally he rememberd " I have led this kingdom to greatness, the steppes have been conquered and now all we have left to fight is impoverished bandits and feeble thracians" when he finished his last word a great laughter broke out, thracians may fight like lions in physical combat, but by the time they can get there -if they do- they are almost all destroyed by the archer, and in a samaritians eyes this was weak. The king laughed along with his men, in his gold plated throne and purple colored robe ; the color of a king. "But I fear for our greatness, for this is corrupting our minds. This is not our fault, it comes with unlimited wealth." The aristocrats looked around wondering what he meant. "IF we do not change our ways then we will become like greeks, or armenians, our security is eroding us from the inside. We need a change, we need to go somewhere. I am in the process of gathering men, agents, fleets, archers together. Because once this is done, every noble will leave here on a voyage to a far off land. I know not where, but its the only way". "Even at this very moment my great son and heir (He put great emphasis on the word heir) is destroying the military power of the thracians...and bringing more woman" He looked obviosly at the pretty woman sitting on some noblemens laps, and formed a sly grin over his face, much to the amusement to his guests.

And so they were being broken, army by army the thracians were being beaten. In open combat Ara was a unstoppable force, a military genius.

Just into manhood and arleady conquering armies, impressive. The thracians attacked him in a 2 pronged assault, even the thracian king was in it.

The king was late though. Too lazy to get off his fatass and fight like a man!

The battle went on, and it was a massacre. Our arrows blotted out the sun.

The enemy general was no match even for one of our units! killed singlehandely by a unit of katephraktoi, who were rewarded by the best choice of the spoils.

The enemy king came to the battle, but it was arleady over. The army that attacked us was massacered. The thracian king was reported to piss his pants on seeing his once great army being demolished by a hail of arrows. And ran off to his fort.

The king had enormous prestige, and any word his word meant law. Nobody would dare cross him. Though some wondered if He was getting crazy with old age. Nevertheless, the nobles went home and prepared to gather whatever they could and go wherever the king, or his brilliant heir, took them. If there is one thing that Samaritians would do anything for, is a good fight.

That's some nice work holybandit :2thumbsup:
Like the way you use pics from outside the game to add to the atmosphere, it really helps to give some "scene". Keep up the good work!

Are you just saying this? Thanks for the compliments, Its really fun. The only problem though is that im getting bored with the samartians...same units always (and only 5 to chose from!). I need some variation. Right now in the game iv raided about every city along the coast, and have...well nvm il have to get it in the story.

Tried to download BI. For some reason it completely screwed up my RTW game and I couldnt even play BI. Had to reinstall, lost everything :laugh4:

I love it when somebody appreciates what I do. but absolutely hate it when they lie about it.
