Hey!

Today I've finished my campaign with HRE on med - it was a "speed" campaign, as I call it, with much auto resolving, much automanaging the settlements, not paying attention at diplomacy (I had no diplomats - war all the time :p) or pope (I was excommunicated for most of the game) - in general I was carring more about empire expansion than about empire gestation :laugh4:

Anyway, after wiping out all catholic factions, making the final assault on Rome and removing the papal states out of the play (hence beating the game) I got a message stating something like "Hero of the Zero". Unfortunatelly, because it was my "speed" campaign (and it took me only 2 evenings to finish it), I've automatically dissmissed the report, without reading it:wall: (as I've done with other ones :/ ) So maybe someone also got this message and could tell me what it's about?

Thanks in advance :egypt:

i got it once during my portugal campaign.
i blitzed the spanish then when they were wiped out i took a general i had and rounded up the rebels, after a few battles he got man of the hour thing and i was then asked if i wanted to "adopt" him and i said yes...so...there you have it...i think.

I've seen that scroll pop up a few times. I hardly ever read those but I seem to recall that one having something to do with a development in sciences or some such? Or, maybe I just assumed it was about adopting the zero concept in math or some such, but I do remember having the impression from the image on the scroll that it has something to do with sciences.

@ŞaoŞin: No,no. Hero of the hour is a different thing. I got it quite often if I get a nice victory by an army led only by a captain - and yes, it's about adoption.

However, this time it was something different. It came after reports of "faction destroyed" (papal states) - there was this "Hero of the Zero" (or something). From skimming through text (for a second I needed my hand to automatically click the dismiss the message icon) I think I read something about being the only catholic faction or so. But again, I cannot be sure, cause it did it all so automatically, that it could be written elsewhere :P

So, has anybody else got this message?

@Grimmy: Hmm, may be that. I'm gonna search through localisation files, maybe it's there? :p

Hero of the Zero is one of those historical messages that don't change anything in the game. It's about a mathematician saying that a number with no value is important and revolutionary. It's pretty funny, mentioning peasants and how they already deal with things of "no value" daily.

It's just one of the many random notifications about historical developments - like the wind power one, or European paper &c. This one's just about the invention of zero to aid the expansion of mathematcs... and (as mathematicians will tell you) the expansion of all knowledge.

Yep, its about the invention of the number "0" and how most people at that time had nothing anyway and thus knew about it already (the wording makes it really funny to read)

It is a historical message that the number 0 was discoverd in Europa. Nothing special for the gameplay though. It does always pop up at the year 1202. If it was a grand campaign you played, you actually were very fast.
