I need help with crusades

hey guys how do i start a crusade? iremeber in the old MTW we just trained them gave the pope some money and you had your crusade. but how do i do it here? and how can i join one that's already started?

iirc, you have to have atleast 8 units then right click your general, in the lower left of the unit info screen should be a "join crusade" icon. click it and you now joined the crusade. enjoy the free upkeep in provides =)

also, if you WANT to start a crusade, you need to have a high standing with the pope and you simple "request" a crusade for a particular area. if your standing with the pope is high he will approve of it if not he will err not do it.

He means how TO START a crusade.
Go to the Pope screen. In the left of the screen there is a round button with a cross. If this button is clickable you can start a crusade. Click on it to see which cities are available to be "crusaded" and conform (or cancel) it.

ok i got a crusade started but how do i make a crusader army?

Just as stated above - 8 units and a general. Click on the general. At the bottom left of his profile is a little button which says 'join crusade'. Click this. You will be able to recruit some special crusader units as mercenaries as well.

Make sure you are always heading in a direct line for the crusade target every turn or your army will start deserting.
