View Full Version : Cossack Musketeer oddities
I'm having trouble using these guys. A lot of times, they would just reform and reform without doing anything. It seems to me that they need an unobstructed view and can't shoot uphill or downhill. Even then, they wouldn't fire sometimes.
Also, I built an alchemy lab and it increased their melee attack and not their missile attack. :wall: :wall: :wall: :wall:
Nothing increases missile attack in this game, only melee. You need a swordsmith guild for normal troops and an alchemist lab for gunpowder troops, but you can't increase the missile attack rating.
From what I've read, the other problem isn't unique to cossack musketeers. As I understand it, if you order the unit to fire at a specific target, they get hung in the reforming mode when they suffer casualties. If you leave them on fire at will to pick their own target it doesn't happen. There's also supposed to be a line of sight bug where they don't fire if a single tree is in the way, instead of just shooting where most of the shots would pass around it like other missile units.

I'm 95% sure that deploying your gunpowder units in two ranks fixes the reforming problem for most gunners. I know it works for Janissaries, haven't used Cossacks though.
