View Full Version : Quickfix for Timurid Artillery elephant CTD

I found a way to allow you to continue a campaign with the abilty to fight Timurs on the field with depleted Elephant units without a CTD. kiss autoresolving it goodbye.

The trick is to turn them into arquebruisers elephants

Heres all you need to do, but this only works if you downloaded the unpacked files, and so I'll look into zipping the necessary files and uploading it for people to download. also you have to mod it for mods to work

Go to (export_descr_unit.txt) find Timurids elephants, then copy everything except for the first 2 lines. Then go to the Timurid artillery elephants and paste everything you copied over on top of that unit minus the first 2 lines.

They will will now be arquebruiser elephants even though the game says they are artillery elephants.

Edit I have all the necessary files zipped and now all I need to do is upload it. Any suggestions?

Thanks for looking into this Oaty. It pretty much ruined 2 of my eastern campaigns and as you said, had to auto-resolve. The link below my post worked fine.

Is this link reliable, I just went to this site and signed up, unfortanately when I click on the link I am automatically signed in so I don't know if the site is public or you need an account to access it. So someone give it a try so I know

Dead Elephants would cause a crash, but this fixes it, Flavius Gonzo.

hmm, am I doing something wrong? When (and wherever) I dl the zip file, I can't open it. It seems to be "invalid or damaged".

Also I can't find the export_descr_unit.txt - do I need to create it, manually extract it anywhere or rename it?

First of all I'm guessing you tried the first link, click on the on that says this link works better. I'll go ahead and remove that link since it is still down.

Anways modding at least for right now is harder than any of the previous. Just for what little I changed I needed to do lot.

The file you are looking for "export_descr_unit.txt" is'nt directly accessable as it is in a pac file. However you can get the game to overide the pac file by telling it to read a mod first.

Sorry I overread the "have to mod the game" in your original post. Clear advantage to those who can read properly! ;)
Managed to autoresolve the battle in question, now sitting on another one waiting for the patch TODAY...
