Sorry if this is a shtoo-pid question, but aren't there supposed to be aztecs in the game? I've got about 30 turns left before the complete end of the game, and nothing in sight. I've already won the "long" campaign (I'm playing as the English) and own almost all of Europe, portions of North Africe, and portions of the middle east (including Jerusalem, Acre, etc..).

Still, no Aztecs.... do I have to play 'til the end of the entire game before they appear? Is there a trigger that occurs? Do I need the explorers guild to send me on a mission?

I think I've got to be missing something...

You have to sail west yourself.
You need highest tech dock ship and explorers guild

Then sail west!

Yeah, you need Carracks and a hankering or a little sailing expedition due west.

Events in M2 are tied to the date. For example you can't sail for the new world before 1400 (the world is round event). Then you've got to build the last tier of dock to trian Caracks. But if your Spain of Portugal you can get Caravels with the level you already had and get Grand Caracks with the last one.

But if you want to see the Aztecs right away. Type in toggle_fow (removes the FOW) and mouse over to the extreme left. The Aztecs are there. But they are in limbo (they just sit there not doing anything) till you set foot on Mexico.
