View Full Version : Spreading Plague
The Plague came and went. Yet it keeps breaking out here and there. Currently, I have 4 cities with plague.
I know characters spread plague, so I have been very careful with them as they slowly die out. But will troops spread plague? As far as I can tell, they don't have a plague marker like characters. So I wonder if they are spreading the new plague or if it is just random new occurances?
So will troops without characters spread plague?
The troops do spread the plague. I just quaranteen the settlements totally when I get the plague and also train spies there to spread it to my enemies :whip:
Thanks!
I must carrying the plague back to cities when I retrain them. So how do I know which troops carry the plague and which don't?
Also how long do they carry the plague? Can I ever take them back into cities again?
You can take them back to cities. Watch the unit portrait, if it has a little black rodent, the unit/character is a plague bearer.
You can also control an enemy population through biological warfare.
For example Jerusalem, Acre, and Gaza are all close to each other. If plague breaks out in one you can shuffle spies in and out of each of the three every turn. This will drmatically reduce the population in a short time span, hurting the enemy's taxation and also when you take the city you will have more time to build it up and much less unrest. Naturally you only walk in after the plague outbreak has subsided.
A plague outbreak if left uncultured, does'nt last more that a few turns, 3 or 4 at best.
Armies do not show the plaguebearer sign. This is a major problem and should be fixed in the patch, as in RTW the sign was there.
I would say that you can be sure you are rid of the plague if the city that has it gives you the casualties: 0 report on account of the plague. I would still wait until the next turn and then send the troops out to be trained again.
Yup the little catastrophe pop-up should tell you if the troops are still affected. As long as it shows that troops are dying, do not send them home for retraining.
