View Full Version : Do you think the CA read these boards enough?

MSB

Hello all Orgh members,
I just wanted to ask you opinion on how much the CA reads these boards. I personally think that they read them enough, but not as often as they should. There is a tiny amount of room for improvement. Many members of the CA have not appeared to be on here at the Org for several days (they may be using invisible, however). I admire all of their brilliantly and hard work they do on creating suberb games such as M2TW, RTW, MTW and STW, but they really should come slightly more often to check out the bug list, answer fan questions etc. What is your opinion on the matter?
Thanks
Avlvs

Where did you expect from CA staff be more active than .com? How about Askmen.com or, say, Yahoo ?

I have a question for you: When will your endless irrelevant single-man reformation manifestos end ? Do you need a favor to end this torment you are storming since you have discovered somewhere called Watchtower ? If so, let me know. I won't pay this month's rent and send you what you want for the sake of the Org.

As many may have noticed the CA are very sub-active on the Org at current. The only place they really seem to be truly active at is at the .com forums.
CA are quite active, here. They never go on posting sprees but that's to be expected. The main thing is that CA do read the forums. CA in fact seem more active here than at the .com. CA posts at the .com are a rare occurance usually marked by a flock of fanboys descending on the thread.

Some individual CA members turn up, ask to be marked as CA staff and then disappear off the chart for several months before returning... ... They just don't seem to be active around this community anymore. So do you think the CA are active enough around here?
No they don't, you're making assumptions based on what? In the 6-7 months you've been here it may appear like that but isn't. CA are not regular posters but when an issue arises they do ofen respond which proves that they do read the board.

It is just unacceptable how people have to go to .com for anything to be read by a developer.
Why is it unacceptable? They have no obligation to be here? What exactly would you expect them to post about? At the .com in the past, and here, CA posts have been descended on by, shall we say, less responsible members, and spammed out of existence.

I can only echo LEN's post above: End your fruitless reformation attempts please. This is for your own good. You're a decent member, and these sorts of posts are only damaging your reputation here.

Avlvs Libvrnivs Britannicvs Maximvs While I enjoy your enthusiasm about The Org, it's policy and it's members, you really should reconsider on what and how you post things.

I see it as a good thing that you are very passionate about possibilities you see for improvements, the way you communicate however could use some polishing. The things you try to accomplish fail because of your aggressive tone.

On this topic : I think we should be thankful CA visits ehre at all, it's not part of their job and they're here voluntarily.
Of course, the more we ee of them, the better ~:).

On the contrary, totalwar.com is the official CA website. Where-else would you expect to find CA staff? In fact, in the past .comites have complained that CA spend too much time at the Org, instead of on the official forums.

FWIW CA were MUCH more active in the community, in all kinds of ways, in the run-up to MTW2 being released. Never before have I seen such effort from them to interact with the TW community, and I heartily applaud them. They took an Org mod all the way to Australia and put him up for a week!!!!! Gordon Bennet man, what more do you want?

Not as much obligation as they have duty!

Obviously our forum isn't flashy enough. This is the only possible conclusion.

For a serious answer: someone stops by most days I believe, they often use invisible mode though.

That they should have coincided the visit with the Ashes series?

As long as my boss don't read them. He wouldn't be happy discovering I post here during working hours :embarassed:

He is the  trying to test you LEN. He is your first initiation in the art of self control. Here comes the second:

*** opens threads about a) the Assistant Moderators need a new look ; b) the Assistant Mods need a new avatar; c) Aren't there too many Turkish assistant mods? ; d) I'd like a green forum with yellow stripes, pink stars, snow and grey letters e) on second thoughts, make it white letters ; f) Is it appropriate for an assistant mod to have long hair; g) ... ***

More seriously: Aulus, I'm 100 % sure you believe you're acting in the best intrest of the Org and you don't intend to annoy the staff with petty details. But as Mith stated very well (which doesn't mean camels don't stink), you should be carefull with threads like these. Don't forget the Org staff members are spending a lot of their free time in this community and they are doing a helluva job. And, if I'm not mistaken, all of it for free. Off course, there's always something that can be done better, but hey: there ain't no such thing as a perfect forum. In fact, nothing is perfect in our world.

I'm sure it is not your intention, but it is understandable that some of the staff members are beginning to feel you don't appreciate all of their hard, voluntarily, work.

Off course, it's a good thing to critizise and to out your opinion, but you shouldn't exaggerate.

On topic: like others stated before, not posting is not equal with not reading/not being interested. I'm pretty sure CA has employees checking the Org everyday. After all, this is one of the most important fansites dedicated to their TW-series. So I think you are mistaken here.

But don't worry, I still love you ~;)

Oh man, I sure hope you don't mean that in the classic sense:laugh4:

But, I do have to agree that CA should have a staff member checking the org. I mean, this is the only forum where they can possibly get useful feedback from the community right?

Captain Fishpants/Southwater Panda is the .c0mmie's MikeB, Mike Brunton. Jerome has an account at the .c0mmie as well but I don't think he posts there any more, could be wrong though.

There's also Sensei TW who's CA.

.com is often referred to as .commie, it's not really harsh, just a nickname. The org is also referred to as the "borg" or the "B0rg" by some. Also not serious so nothing to worry about.

It's not harsh, I call this place the b.0rg or b0rg (as Caravel mentioned), and I spend most of my time over there anyways with almost 3.9k posts.

Seconded; also, this is the way to reply to a thread (or collection of threads) like this. Not like LEN, I'm afraid. That is not a course of action for a member of the staff to take.

Sorry this is my style of reaction that you're likely to see if you "itch" me too much.

Hope you had followed my approach on the unfortunate thread started to "hunt down" ALBM, succesfully repelled with common sense of Org members.

Thanks for your criticism. I'd like to know the rest of the "how to" of being a staff member though. My inbox is wide open.
