Being an EB noob, I'm not sure I understood the build strat... and what's different from the vanilla version...
In RTW, I was usually destroying the temple (once it was safe to do it) and replace it with one of my own... I kept the rest of the buildings because most of them were compatible (meaning that I could build a 4th level faction building on top of a 3rd level local existing building)... the ones that were not compatible were harmless and even proved beneficial (eg: aqueducs for barbs :)))
In EB, I'm destroying the temple (or the religious building) and replace it with my own... I'm also destroying the gov't in order to build that military provisional authority and then my own gov't (either type 1/2 or 3/4)...
What about the other buildings (I noted that they were quite similar to my own in Celtic provinces - I'm playing the Casse - but now I conquered Germanic provs and they're all different)???

The government is the only one you really must destroy. The rest are up to you. If they are a vastly different culture, I usually destroy their MIC's too.

tks a lot... I hope this means that most of the buildings are compatible...

Don't you need a correct MIC for them to be usable. Playing as Hayasdan I can't use Seleukid MICs, Or am I doing stupid things again? ~:dizzy:

That's correct. If you right click on the MIC it will tell you which factions can share it. Seleukid share a factional MIC with Ptolemaioi and a regional MIC with Ptolemaioi and Baktria. Destroying them gives you extra cash, and prevents them from immediately recruiting units should they retake the city.
