Okay, sometimes you encounter people and when they tell their name you sometimes don't believe them, they seem to fit them to well or they have really strange names and stuff.

Now do you guys know any people like that?

I for example knew a kid who was called Remy, now you Enlish probably don't know but this a name that only men who are over 80 or so normally have.

I am one of those people. My mom decided to name me after my grand fathers. Maternal (first name) then Paternal (second name). Those names are Lawson and Reuel.

Personally I hate funny parents, those parents that think it's cool to give the kid a name that rhymes. Or parents who call their kid John Johnson or something.

Mind you it can be worse like the Dutch Pop Idol winner who named here child ... wait for it ... Beautifull, I mean come on, you don't do the kid a favour when she goes to school.

Where I used to work someone named their daughter Evie Poppy, which is just silly.

There was a program on the tele the other night about kids with eating disorders, anyway one of them was a boy called Tron.

I think it's sort of a new trend back to flower power days where parents called their kids silly things like 'Star' or 'Brooklyn'. They don't actually realise that kids will always be kids and are bound to pick up on it at school.

I met a guy once called August August. Now, why would anyone do that? A girl from Canada called Chritchley, as a first name. Don't know what got into the parents.

The half-sister of a friend of mine calls her kids after cars and motorcycles. She has Chevy, a Harley and a Cheyenne. You Anglo-Saxons may regard Harley and Cheyenne as (somewhat) normal but here in Belgian they are just child trauma's in the making.

Any name that can be translated into something dirty containing an appendage of the human body.

For example my Highschool Math Teacher's name was Dick Beaten.

but Chevy is just weird...

You mean like Chevy Chase?

I just had one of those enlightening moments - saying "Chevy" like the car gives the name a whole new meaning. Duh, sometimes I can't see the forest through the trees. :dunce:

Orb, you remind me that during my working teenage years (long, long time ago), there was a manager where I worked name Richard Hair.

My wife's first job out of high school was working in the administrative office of a nursing home. Part of her job was to page various staff members over the PA system. One day she had to page a Dr. Nipple. She found it very difficult to keep the laughter out of her voice during the page.

"Johan Anus" = John excretory opening at the end of the alimentary canal
de Heer Onbekend = Mister Unknown

Some people have all the luck...

Hey nothing against Frank Zappa you hear me!!! And certainly not in a thread started by me! It's like posting in a thread of beirut adn telling him Pink Floyd sucks, which I ofcourse don't agree with.

Edit: Mario actually is a real Italian name, I know someone with that name too.

He wrote some great stuff, I'm not dissing his music. But to call his kids that is just mean.

One of the strangest two names I came across were Romeo and Juliet. Nothing wrong with each individual name, but considering they were brother and sister just seemed very strange :san_laugh:

People make silly names silly... don't try too hard.

That said, I don't really think it's wise to name a kid something that will probably get them picked on; they live w/ the name, not their parents, and they really ought to consider that when they're choosing a name...

Anyway, a girl I went to highschool w/, and college now, is named Y Mae and her brother Y Paul, as in "why mae?"

Mangari Bustop is the name of one rather unfotunate kid. Not entirely sure on the spelling but it sounds like Mangari Bus Stop.

I feel sorry for someone named Patay. It sounds as if someone doesn't want to waste time saying that name.
