I noticed quite a lot of duplicate posts by different members and it seems like many of them are Junior Members. Maybe I just coincidentally stumbled over a lot of those in the past or maybe it's a problem on my end of the line? Displaying some posts twice?
Anyways, anyone else noticed stuff concerning this?
Examples:
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=75028 Post #5 and #6
https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/showthread.php?t=75035 Post #2 and #3
That's usually because sometimes it takes anyone who's posting takes a while and they click on Reply and then it'll post it two or three times. It's a problem with people who are impatient or accidentally hit the Reply button twice.

I know where it's coming from, but it seemed like a sudden burst to me, so I thought I'd ask if anyone else noticed this or if it's just normal behaviour and it was just coincidence that the last three threads I saw had them.
Hello all,
One solution to this would be to impose (very) strict flood control.
Thanks

I doubt the forum software perceives double posts as a flooding. Because there already is a flood control applied to everyone.

You could alwayqs increase the waiting time between posts, but I don't think that 'll be user friendly.
Most people will probably learn from their mistake.
Thanks for catching those - I've deleted the duplicates.
We do have pretty strict flood control - I've had complaints from juniors because apparently it's in the region of 5 minutes or so. I'm not a tech person, but I guess the delay in the first post being received means that the flood control is not activated quickly enough to prevent the duplicate being accepted.

5 minutes? Don't you think that's a little harsh?

Don't quote me on the 5 minutes - I don't know what it is exactly.
I described it as strict - so, yes, it might seem a little harsh but it's the flipside of allowing juniors to post in all game-related areas. We've seen a great increase in the amount of porn-advert spam type posts and flood control is one defence against them overrunning the boards. Plus flood control may encourage new juniors to think more before posting, so we get less one-line posts and more substantive contributions.
