Hi,

Sorry if this is an obvious question, but I can't seem to find a mini-mod that just changes unit movement speed and battle speed. Is there such a thing (or is this so easy to do yourself that it doesn't need a mod)?

As background, I have played M:TW for a long time and just started playing R:TW (yeah, I'm well behind the times). I like most of the mechanics of the game so far, but I was hoping to have tactical battles feel more like those in M:TW. These battles seems to move way too fast for my taste.

Thanks for your help.

i dont know about unit movement speed, but you can change how fast they swing their weapon or shoot, and therefore, they wouldnt kill as fast.thats all im good for.

ave and welcome to the ORG.

Find the file called descr_battle_map_movement_modifiers.txt
Open it up and change the entries into:

climate default

grass_short 0.85
grass_long 0.85
sand 0.70
rock 0.75
forest_dense 0.55
scrub_dense 0.65
swamp 0.55
mud 0.65
mud_road 0.85
stone_road 0.90
water 0.45
ice 0.55
snow 0.70

This should up the movement considerably. Adjust according to taste.

As for kill speed, open up the file export_descr_unit.txt
In a unit's entry, you'd see this line:

stat_pri 13, 5, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, sword, 25 ,1

change that into

stat_pri 13, 5, no, 0, 0, melee, simple, piercing, sword, 25 ,0.5

Now your unit is only half as deadly. You can do that to every single entry. Yes, it's tedious but hey, that's modding.

But actually he wants the speed reduced, so reduce those modifiers. They control how fast units move across different terrain, so lowering them all by the same factor will decrease movement speed. It won't adjust kill speeds though. For a complete system overhaul I suggest EB or RTR or any of the realism or gameplay mods. Try them
