Hello everyone.
I have registered on The Guild to ask this question that keeps bugging me for some time now.
Is there any kind of mod for Medieval: Total War that lets the user play in Multiplayer over a LAN with other players AND the PC? So for example we will match 2 player factions vs 3 computer factions.
Right now it is not possible to play on LAN with the PC, but I reckon that maybe the mod people have finnaly made it possible.
Just go into the multiplayer menu and host a new LAN game. Set up the AI opponents, and the human opponents and that's it, the other players on the lan can join the game, and when it's ready you can kick it off. If you're speaking of a multiplayer campaign though, that's impossible. Battles only unfortunately.

Mmm.. this is somewhat confusing.
I was talking about the battle multiplayer (not the campaign one), but I'm not entirely sure from where I "Set up the AI opponents, and the human opponents and that's it".
Let's see what I do.
-I start the game.
-I click on Multiplayer / LAN (pic (https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y66/FirstPhotoLast/lan.jpg))
-Click on Host Game (pic (https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y66/FirstPhotoLast/host.jpg))
-Select the Map Options (pic (https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y66/FirstPhotoLast/options.jpg))
-I hit Continue and enter the Lobby where I wait for others to join. (pic (https://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y66/FirstPhotoLast/lobby.jpg))
-If someone enters I get the possibility to hit Continue, select my army and play the game with him.
Now, from where exactly can I put an AI to play with us? :(
No I don't think you can do that in MTW. I think you may be able to do it in Rome but not MTW sorry. Multiplayer is no my forte, you'd probably be better off asking your questions in the MP forum.
DeltaOne2, some advice get the v1.1 patch.

Welcome to the Org, DeltaOne2. ~ You would probably do well to follow Caravel's advice and check out the MTW MP forum--specifically, The Jousting Fields (https://forums.totalwar.org/vb/forumdisplay.php?f=31). Good luck!

You can't play multiplayer of any kind against the A.I., only battles against other human opponents.

Hmmm, I don't play versions 1.0 or 1.1, but with v2.01 LAN play is fairly easy to set up. Just have one machine on the LAN act as host, and then join it with the other P/C's. The LAN option is under the multiplayer menu in the game. There are always only two sides (Attacker vs. Defender), and with more than two people you have allies.

Thanks everyone for the welcomes :)
Thanks for the help. The Jousting Fields are.. confusing. All I see are topics like 'Samurai X' on the first page.
Anyway, I think Geezer57 sum'ed it all up nicely.

Sad.

Hello,
since MTW/VI is a bit outdated the number of players is very small. There's been said almost everything there's to say on the MP topic and so the most recent topics are about actually playing.
Samurai Warlords is a mod for VI and is getting ever more popular these days. The Samurai X topics are about the regular online meetings we have. Sorry for spamming the forum. :laugh4:

Yes, but true. I can confirm that. It's different from Age of Empires etc. where it's possible to fight with an allied human against up to 6 AI foes.
