Just to keep me happy playing M2TW while waiting for the real modders to do thier work, I have created a mod of my own which some of you might be interested in for the same reasons I was interested.

Contains:

All armour values on units with an armour value have been increased by +3
All defence values have been doubled.
All morale values have been doubled.

All heavy cavalry have had thier numbers reduced to 32 (60 on huge settings)
Generals heavy cavalry have been reduced to 12 (30 on huge settings)

Peasants have had thier purchase value increased to 2000 to limit the A.I's use of them.

All siege weapons from balistas to bombards have had thier purchase values increased by a large amount, again to limit the A.I's use of them in field battles.

I've yet to play a campaign, but I had a lot of fun playing a couple of custom battles. Kill rates have been lowered significantly, but a heavy cavalry charge is still extremely powerful and will wipe out a large amount of troops.

The extra armour value has decreased slightly the casualty rate from missile fire.

If you prefered the longer fights in mods such as Rome Total Realism, then I think you'll like this mod. At least it will make a few people happy until the real modders start releasing thier mods. The mod isn't perfect, I'd still like it to be a little slower in the kill rate department, but it's good enough for 3-4 hours work.
