Apparently someone over at CA was rockin the ganj when they created the names for some agents:

So wait, you've got a Danish Merchant (see: DEALER!) in Amsterdam, by the name of Toke? This is so inadvertantly full of marijuana innuendo it's hillarious.

I just can't help but laugh at it. I'm sorry; but to me, this beats out Moses by a landslide. What were they thinking? You know this had to happen eventually :P

In American slang, toke/toking is the act of taking a long deep draw in a marijuana cigarette. ( http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=toke ).

edit: OMG & Sinan beat me to it. I'd just add that it's not just an American term -- it's also relatively common in the UK. It can refer to tobacco smoking as well, but it's far more common to see it connected with marijuana or hemp.

Yea, it's not much of a joke to enjoy internationally I guess.

You just gotta realize there's a guy in Amsterdam (the Mecca of Marijuana), named Toke (the slang name for smoking pot in English), trading Textiles (Wrapping papers)!

It's just so full of pot innuendo, it's great. I suppose maybe in the Netherlands or Europe where pot isn't treated like a disease it's not too funny. To Americans, pot humor is hillarious not only for the puns but the laughing at the silliness of some of the culture of Americans against it.

(FYI to everyone and mods: I have never seen, touched, smoked or thought about any of the above, with marijuana)

As a Med student, that kind of thing isn't just illegal, it's grounds for expulsion and permant barring from ever becoming a proper doctor.

But to me Toke is just another name, so naturally I never thought about this. In fact one of the great viking heroes was named Palnertoke or Palnatoke (he was the leader of the Jomsvikings, and his name is derived from the fact that his father was named Palner/Palna, another great viking).

So to me Toke is in fact a powerful name if applied to that age.

But even looking at it from your perspective, I think the Parthian name of Arses beats this one by a number of lengths
