While I enjoy games like Warcraft 3 and Age of Empires, I find the constant attention to resource gathering somewhat tedious after a while. The Total War series appeals to me because I can think about my options, take my time to make my actions and then continue. Are their any other good strategy games like Total War (turn based)?
Risk is fun? ><
Y'know, I don't know. I don't have that much experience with the genre outside of the TW series. Have you ever tried 'Advanced Wars'?

You might try "civilization"...the fourth installment is quite good and occupied me for at least six months or so.

Imperial Glory. I haven't played it myself but I heard/read that it's pretty much a poor copy of the TW concept.

Agreed. Had forgotten all about that one.

Heroes of Might& Magic is a TBS series I believe. You might want to ask in the arena, quite a few folks seem to really like TBS there.
On handhelds you have quite a few: Advance Wars, fire emblem, age of empires DS, killzone liberation and probably more.
