Playing the selud and was trashing the Bruti. According to the finances they were broke. All their docks where barricaded yet thet still had what appears to be an endless supply of ships wandering the seas that did not seem to dimish. When they crashed and it was the julis turn they appeared to be producing legioners/pret guards from the provinces mainly in Gaul/germany that did not appear according to the spys to have the appropiate barracks.?
Evetually the towns became too rebellious, and when they revolted, they always had gold amoured/exp soldiers again beyound the city capabilities.

Hmm, I do believe the Ai get's an 'x' amount of denarii each turn, depending on the difficulty settings for the campaign map. if I recall correctly, medium doesn't offer them any bonus at all, but hard and very hard do. These bonuses should merely contain cash though, not troops and buildings :dizzy2:

Praetorian Guards don't require a barracks. You can train them after you've maxed out the governors mansion (huge city level)

It's not cheating as such, and it is a walkover game anywho,
The A.I. is not very effective at coordinating its forces on the campaign map, which means that there will often be plenty of full stacks of high quality units wandering around even when you trash their main cities. However, it cannot build units without the approriate structures.
The rebellion thing is something else, though. AFAIK the troops generated are of the type that the town can naturally generate. Aparently, these rebellions have a sort of budget, and any spare cash is turned into upgrades. That's how you end up with gold-chevron troops, but you shouldn't see legionaries in a town with level 2 barracks.
