OK, I feel the sudden desire to explain my username and to pay homage to the great forgotten musician known as Cab Calloway.

After looking on YouTube for some of his music I found a whole lot more than expected and couldn't help wondering what people here think of him. Most people who I mention him to haven't heard of him before, however he did do a performance of his most famous song Minnie the Moocher (originally written in 1928) in the Blues Brothers which most people have seen.

Here is another version of Minnie the Moocher from 1950 after his Big Band broke up due to his gambling problems.

Now to go back a bit earlier (to the 1940s) Hepcat is jazz slang for a Swing musician:
