Would it be possible to somehow label all the mercenary units. At the moment there is sometimes some confusion (some units have exactly the same graphics as factional ones) over which unit is mercenary and which is the factional one.
Maybe a little icon somewhere on the unit card could do the trick?

Hehe. I just posted on this on the internal board. We'll see, but it won't happen for the immediate patch.
I work around this by right-clicking on the unit, in the info tab under recruitment cost, it will always say "varies" for merc units. Not the easiest system but it works.
I wish you could retrain mercs or fold them into identical factional troops.

I THINK, if the merc unit has the same skin as the factional unit, that might be possble. At least in 0.80 I've been able to retrain Thessalian Cav, acquired as mercs, in the cities, while I coudn't do that for the hoplitai, and in both cases IIRC the merc and factional units shared the same skin.

Don't think so, in my current 0.81 Mak campaign I can retrain Thraikiai Prodromoi with the card showing "recruitment cost: varies" at my cities with no problem. Mind you had that map.rwm, but I don't think that would affect this...

Some units with the mercenary_unit attribute are both recruitable and hireable as mercs, so they can be retrained.
