View Full Version : Shogun in medevil Europe
Think about it. Instead of Japnese warlords, you have nobels fighting from the throne of Brition or someother coutry.
Has this idea been thought of before? Has it been considered for a sequel, maybe?

Welcome to the Dojo:
See Mods section of this forum, and community forum - there the whole STW 2 thing is one of their longest threads.
Seems like people are saying Romans are next.
Good idea though.

It seems to me that the easiest adaptation of the game engine would for 15th & 16th century europe. The weapons technology would be virtually identical. Think how fun it would be to see the Valois Gendarmie charging a Swiss pike block!
The Italian Wars (1494-1559) would probably be the most interesting, since there were varying regional tactical systems in conflict. Spanish arquebusier and genotours, French heavy cavalry and artiller, swiss pikemen, etc.
Of course, field fortifications and siegecraft would probably have to play a greater role than they do in shogun.
What I'm really looking forward to is more operational/minor strategic games i.e. the set up for battles with the units greater than simply company strength. Most of the war games these days focus on either grand strategy/logistic competition or minor tactics. Shogun is somewhat exceptional because it combines all of these, with a bit of grand tactics too.
Here's to hoping.
I asked them about this, but they said they wouldn't do it until we could all spell medieval. http://www.totalwar.org/ubb/wink.gif

Here's a tip: try not to pronounce it as you type it. In general, try not to speak the words (even in your mind) while typing them: spoken English and written English have nothing to do with each other. You'll only confuse them.
(It constantly amazes me how English speakers can read a word and then spell it all incorrectly, without ever hearing it - they pronounce it incorrectly in their minds and then write that pronounciation. You'll never see a foreigner make this mistake.)

This one's being moved to OT, both for discussion of blood and guts in a feadal setting, and for spelling lessons on which I'm no authority
