:help:

I'm not getting the Thieves Guild in Damascus and I've spammed spies forever from there.

I'm not getting Merchant's Guild in Antiohc and I never ever produced a single merchant from anywhere else (exaggeration!).

Anyway this is surely broken in my game. Can someone please tell me how to mod the savegame so I have these Guilds where I want them ?

Salute !

Check out this thread for info on how to get a guild.

Yeah I've seen that thread. What I want to know is how to mod the savegame to "fix" guilds where I want them because ....

Merchant's Guild
Train merchants: +10 settlement
Done only trained merchants from this location (about 30?) so +300 points for this settlement

Build merchants wharf series: +20/25/30 settlement, +0/2/5 others
Done. Built complete wharf series. So +75 points.

Build market series: +10/15/20/25 settlement, +0/0/2/5 others
Done. Complete markets series built at this settlement. So +70 points.

Make trade agreement: +10 all settlements
Done with every faction, I don't know how these points add up so I'll exclude these from my points calculation.

Successful aquisition: +10 all settlements
Done. I don't remember how many, more than 40 I'd say. Acquisition ratio is in my favor. i.e I pwn more of theirs than vice versa. So I will exclude this from the total as well.

Income > 1000/2000/5000/10000: +1/2/3/4 all settlements(per turn?)
Current merchant income is 7200/Turn. I don't know how this works either so that's out.

Succeed/Fail merchant's guild mission: +/- 10/20 all settlements (depending on difficulty?)
No Guild so no mission.

So my total guild points for Antioch excluding the calculations I'don't know how to do are:

+300+75+70 = 445

So in all likelyhood I should already have the HQ, (because I probably earned 55 points from the items that I don't knwo how to calculate) but I don't

The same is happening with the Thieves Guild, I definetly have more than 500 points for that guild type.

If I could open the save, I'd then know exactly how many points the game has registered.

Yeah, there seems to be something weird going on for some people with certain factions / certain guilds. I'm starting to suspect there is something else going on w.r.t. this, e.g.

A maximum number of each guild type available in a game, i.e. if there is a max of, say, 20 thieves guilds, and your opponents already have them all, then youre never going to get one regardless of what you do.

or

Some factions (or maybe just specific settlments) just dont get access to certain guilds. Pretty unlikely though IMO, cos i've seen people complain that, say, they cant get a theologians guild in caenarvon as the english no matter what they do, and i know that i've done exactly that in the past.

There is definetly some issue here. Also the more the game progresses the less guild offers I've been getting although my recruitment and production (everything) have been going through the roof, which lends credence to your maximum number of guilds theory.

Some territories get a bonus for certian guilds. Toleto is more likely to get the swordsmith, inverness to get the Templar's etc. But your definately on to something here. I've noticed as time goes on it becomes near impossible to get new guild offers for cities. I've even gotten the same guild offer in the settlement were I just destroyed their headquarters at.

Definately some strange going's on.

Can't be a limit...every town I take has a thieves guild. However, there are guilds I have never seen offered no matter which factions I have played. I've not seen the woodsman's guild, the mansions guild, nor most of the others...I get offers sometimes for Templars, Hospitalers, thieves guild "usually the first offer coming", merchants guild, explorers guild, and theologians guild...outsied of that I may have captured a Moorish city with the horseman's guild.

I know woodsman's is for the English but I never got the offer in 3 campagins...Maybe excepting some too soon but I know I have had cities without guilds trying to wait for the right one.

I just don't know if others have had the same trouble but I have never seen anyone who said they had the mansions.

did u take these cities from other factions? if so make sure there isnt already a guild built in the city, also i believe cities have to be a certain size to get guild offers. how big are the cities? thats the only 2 things i can think of. although for merchants, building bigger better markets/docks usually gets me there, rather than producing merchants.

The mason's guild is incredibly difficult to get. I've only gotten it once, and only in one city, that was while playing as the french. It's honestly one of the better ones you can get in for your faction. Quite a good thing it's so insanely difficult to get. The city it's in get's a massive construction cost reduction, a public order increase, and the ability to train some form of militia. The kind of militia it trains increases with its size. Once you get a master mason's guild though your set, the construction cost reduction is faction wide and adds up very fast.

I thought it might show up in France first!

As I said I have waited with some Cities (Max Walls etc.) and keep getting the same offers. Some of it is factional I am sure but there could be a bit of randomness to it I would think.

Yes I took those from other factions and that was like 100 turns ago, and there were no guilds present IIRC. Now there are no guilds present anyway.

The cities are approx 35,000 for Antioch, and approx 32,000 for Damascus.

About the merchants I already did a point calculation, see above.

You can always edit the export_descr_guild file to get the guilds you want.

You can add a whole new section at the bottom.......with "xxxx" being the unit you want to recruit. Use "xxx" for a sword unit that is in the city your trying to get a Thieves Guild.

If you added this section then when you recruit a "xxxx" unit then it will count toward your Thieves Guild. This means you would get 15 points toward a Thieves Guild when you recruit the "xxx" unit. You can always raise the "15" to any number you want to get the guild faster.

Thanks for your help.

What I'll do is:

1. Change the merchant value to 500, spy value to 500.
2. Load the game.
3. Finish a few turns recruiting merchants from Antioch and spies from Damascus, until I get the guild offers.
4. I accept the guild offers, finish the turn and save the game.
5. I reset the values to original.
6. I continue my campaign.

Will this work ?

This whole guild thing wrt Merchants Guilds is odd...

In my Scottish camp, I conquered France, and in a time honored tradition, destroyed all of my enemy's buildings and ran off. Money boost, then go on to fight elsewhere. Anywho, nearly every city had a Thieves Guild, and after I took those out, the next turn (amidst the riots) was the Merchants Guild trying to set up shop. Course, that may be due to the fact that I have the Merchants Guild HQ in Edinburgh, even though I never built one Merchant from there.

Ive build all guilds so far and the hardest one to get is Masons which ive only got in 3 campaigns, 1 in Milan, 1 in Thessaloniki, 1 in Zaragosa if im not mistaken. Ive never had your problems though Sinan and i guess its a pain, maybe you should try not to reject an offer if you get one even if its not at the city you want it maybe it will help heh.

Oh and the AI only seems to build Thieves guild, Explorers guild and Swordsmiths guild as far as i noticed.

The guilds weren't a big concern at start. After I've read some posts on this forum and in the middle of the campaign I destroyed some of the numerous thieves' guilds in my cities. Now I have a HQ for Thieves in Marseille (after I destroyed the one in Antioche), for Explorer in Florence and for Merchants in Constantinople.
I use alot of spies and in Constantinople I was offered a merchant's guild as soon as I destroyed the thieves one.
Now I'm trying to get the theologian HQ in Iconium so I'm planning to build all church line buildings and recruit all priests there.
It took me time to figure out I had to destroy the thieves guild to get others there :wall:

First thing that comes to my mind is that Antioch and Damascus already have other guild houses in them so IIRC it is not possible to have another guild in them. Other than that, I am pretty sure there are some bugs involving guilds. In my latest game with Milanese, I just conquered Venice and got offered a Master Thieves Guild there. The strange thing was I did not have any level Thieves Guild in any place in my Empire and even stranger was that Venice did not even have a brothel to begin with.

I've played England, Turkey, Moor, Milan and HRE so far.
From what I've noticed, Thieves guild seems the msot common of all guilds you can get. I get them almost every second turn even though I hate the thieves guild and don't want it.
I have only ever gotten Theologians guild early as HRE and late as Moors, never with the others.
Merchant's guild I only got with Milan and England (first English campaign, not in second one)
As Moors, i got spammed with Hashashim guilds and Thieves.
As Turkey I just got Explorer and Thieves guilds.

I only ever got offered swordsmith very late in game as Turks and only once.
Never Woodsmen, Horsebreeder's or Mason's guilds as any faction although you'd think that when I'm building the max amount of longbows in every single castle as the English every single turn, I should get something, but no.
And I build stuff in cities every turn possible (rather building than units) and also no Mason's guild.
Mass training knights in castles when not English and no swordssmith or horsebreeders.

Either there is a very large random factor or something isn't working.

Interesting thread.

Personally, I have had an offer (at least once) for every guild available in the game, depending on what faction I was playing as.

As stated earlier, make sure that the AI did not build their standard Thieves Guild in your newly acquired city/castle. Obviously, if there is a guild already existing, you will never get offered another.

I have had to wait for what seemed like forever to finally get offered the particular guild that I wanted in that particular city/castle, but it has always eventually happened.

In my current campaign I arbitrarily decided that I wanted Edinborough (I am playing as Scotland) to be the home of my main Merchant's Guild. I trained all my merchants there, built all market upgrades I could but was continually offered, for what seemed like an eternity, guilds of other sorts. Thieves, Explorers, Assassin, etc. Finally, it happened! Then, in relatively short order, I was offered the next 2 level upgrades to finally achieve the Tier 3 (Headquarters, I guess) Merchant building. Now all my merchants from there come out with a minimum of 4 stars and sometimes much more. Well worth the wait!

I am curious, however, with respect to the Mason's Guild. I have only ever received an offer for it once, playing as France. (a previous poster noted this as well, that he/she received the offer playing as France also) Has anyone ever acquired the Mason's Guild while playing any other faction other than France? And what are the triggers for it? I would love to acquire this Guild more often, as apparently the bonuses for the 2nd & 3rd tier level of guild are rather spectacular. Does anyone know?

thanks!

I got it twice while playing as the Turks. But they never upgraded so I demolished one and gave the 2nd to another faction. After that I never got any. I even took Arguin which is a undeveloped villag and built it all the way up every turn but still nothin. I'm already late into the game.
