Sorry, but being new to EB, I can't somehow find answers.

1) Some EB players are talking about educating children of their faction family in the capital. How exactly one does so? Does it mean the parents of those under 16 (18?) must be kept in the capital? And what are the benefits?

2) Though I got used to the brilliant goverment system in EB, ocasionally I still don't have a clue about reasons behind some things. I.e., as a Romani, I conquer Tarant and Rhegion in the southern Italy, install there an occupation gov, then gov type I, then build various buildings, but still don't have an option to build barracks giving me hastati, principes and triarii (only a building for local levies). When will I get one? Does it have some prequisities that have to be build before?

And what are the benefits?A "house rule" to simulate the way many historical states went about raising and educating the scions of the upper classes. One goes about it by sending generals newly come of age to the faction capital, where presumably schools and similar structures have been built, for a while to represent them spending time in the court as pages (and, historically, more often than not as hostages to ensure the loyalty of their noble parents...) or whatever and being taught all kinds of neat stuff on the side.

Pure self-imposed role-playing, that.

1)The players tend to send their family members to cities with the highest level schools so that they pick up good traits and ancillaries. This tends to the be the capital.

2)I suspect that it's related to the polybian reforms, check the FAQ if you need information on those, which will then allow you to recruit in all of Italy. Of course there are also problems with recruitment all over the map, and it may be related to that as well. Can't really say for sure.

1) As said, you get a trait for generals about their education level that leads to other traits. The better the school in the city they spend their first few years in (16+), the better the traits.

2) You can only recruit Roman units (Hastati etc) in the starting five cities. After the Polybian reform you can recruit them in the starting five plus Segesta[ica?] and all settlements with typeI governments can recruit Velites. I have yet to reach the Marian reform myself.

Thanx for the answers. Just one more thing then. When do Polybian reform starts or what are the conditions to fire it?

Well he did say in his first post he couldnt find the answers. Maybe if you posted a link to the FAQ it would be more helpful.
