sup guys

one of my favorite things about rome was that we could assign our own heirs to the throne in the family tree menu. playing MTW2, i cant find anything that allows me to do that. is this even possible or has the game removed the option? thanks for getting back to me.

First off, welcome to the Forum ~

I'm sorry to say that they have removed this feature, now it seems to select your heir totally randomly :inquisitive: and no-one has yet come up with a definitive answer as to why.

You can still sort of select your own heir. I call it a selective eugenics program :skull: :skull: which involves charging the randomly selected heir into a rebel army where larger rebel armies with light cavalry and lots of spears are preferred. Rinse and repeat this with all unsatisfactory heirs until one emerges who is acceptible

Of course you cannot select your own heirs. Bypassing the first born surely will lead to a civil war in every medieval state.

What i wish is that if, having decided not to let us select our own heirs, CA would have at least left in the ability to assassinate family members :P

Look on the bright side though - gather up all your undesirable family members into an army and you can wipe out rebels without losing any decent units.

The problem is that the game doesn't consistently choose the first born. In fact, it often chooses the last born. Furthermore, there are already traits like ExHeir which leads to hugely decreased loyalty etc. The player should be able to change heirs at the peril of civil war like the original MTW.

Huh... I don't remember that feature in MTW... I guess I missed something.

Sorry katank, but I'm not sure if I understand what you're referring to. ~ Are you talking about how civil wars can erupt in MTW if your assassin fails to kill your crown prince?

In my experience the game consistently chooses your youngest family member at the proper tier of the family tree. Basically someone seems to have flipped a variable in the opposite direction....

Yes, I do this pretty much all the time. But it can interesting as in my currant Denmark campiagn when I had to slaughter all but my King and the heir I wanted. :skull: :skull:

Agree. I have the same experience. In my last Spanish camp I got a 6 star general with 4 authority and only 3 loyalty = actively disloyal, wtf???!

I really really want to see this feature back! Along with the civil wars...and local units etc..

Come on CA..dont make me load up the 5 year old MTW1 to enjoy this!

Should have kept this in....

As it is I dont even take any notice of the faction heir....half the time it is some looper who has all the worst traits you can think of!

So kill him off :P

But yeh, i liked the way in mtw1 how getting a bad faction heir meant that there was a distinct possibility that your realm would disintergrate into civil war :)

Civil wat in MTW1 really made me pay moree attention to the family and loyalty. While it is annoying that a general may switch sides with his good army, it will not make one frantically try to fix the kingdom. Bring back civil war I say!!!:duel:
