Apologies if this is a repeated topic. I am reading a little of this forum and all I read is "bug this" "bug that". Are the bugs this bad when it come to certain things or is this game orgasmic?

I think CA will keep up the patches. But I really like the game.

It's a great game that will be fantastic once CA fixes all the bugs, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise.

To be honest, most of the bug spotting is simple scaremongering. Oh, this aspect of the game doesn't work how I want it to, must be a bug.

There is definately no shortage of bugs, though. Even after the patch, castle cannons towers still shoot ballistas. City arrow towers still shoot ballistas. Charges aren't perfect. Events get out of sync, etc. But none of the bugs are huge game killers. In fact, none of them have really killed my fun at all, except for the occasional disastrous infantry charge where only 10 guys from a 120 man unit actually attack. It's very rare though. Some of the bugs make me laugh, and some of them are actually helpful (ballista towers are better against siege weapons than cannons...).

Overall, it's definately an extremely fun game that will give you many hours of entertainment. I got the game on the release date, and I'm still playing my very first campaign because I'm just finding it so engrossing. Sure the bugs are there, sure they can be bothersome at times, but they haven't made me even consider shelving the game till a patch arrives like I did with RTW (which actually meant my shelving it forever.) I haven't had any CTDs yet, so they aren't bugs that will cause you to lose progress really.

Great game, solid and much better then RTW. But the problem is is good enough to play for awhile so you get to see some of the bugs. Alot of them are glaring and irritating. The pikemen presenting tail and bending over for the enemy is irritating, the uselessness of polaxes and the varangian guard is also a pain. But overrall it's a great game.

I still play Oblivion and well there are bugs in that game......:dizzy2: But even then it's still a great game.

In the occasional event the game mechanics (mostly in Battles) actually seem to work it is an amazingly great game. Unfortunately, that is only the case for me in like 10% or less of the time.

I routinely get to a "why am I playing this again?" point when I have an enemy army routed after some tought battle and want to capture all of them. I have same or or higher number of cav units and i basically have to manually chase every enemy unit because pathfinding is so horrid. This is not a point of view thing and nobody can sell this as a feature.

Neither is the passive AI.

Neither are the defense tower issues (firing wrong or no artillery at all).

Neither are big oriental cities in newly-discovered americas.

Overall this game is cool, but it's a total rush job and should not have been relesed without another two/three months of testing and QA. But guess what? SEGA probably didn't like the thought of releasing a game by the end of january...

Patching just has become too common practice in this industry.

My feelings are that when you do get that great battle..it just hangs together so well, you cannot help but like it....then you play for ages and nothing good happens...till the next odd great battle...

When it is good it is GOOD! But for me, it is almost like I have no immersion in the campaign map...or not a whole lot..as the insane AI is just off the wall far too often.

I cannot say that this is the best TW game to date as it stands...there are siimply tons of balance issues and AI problems...missing features from MTW..that should be here...to really say that. It has the potential to blow your socks off..but CA will need to do a lot more than bug fixing to get it like that IMHO.

As it is I am left wondering why the installation is twice the size of RTW+expansion pack..and I know that almost all of that is graphics code! I was expecting something more.

We need a return to the MTW gameplay..where you could play passive..or wage all hell...this is a one trick pony as such...glorious achievements has been taken out..so we play a slugfest of ongoing battles...

This is what I want looked at not just bugs..the game is flawed in this respect..to me at least.

You have to admit though, for the most part the game is still a hell of a lot of fun.

Yeah it can be great fun...I just do not see it as a serious strategy game....I am just in it for the battles mostly...

I played MTW to death...RTW for months and months...

But this has sort of well, not grabbed me as much..despite being better in many ways...all the good bits from MTW were dropped (faction heir picking, titles, regional units, civil wars)...

When it rocks it does hit the spot...but the trouble is it doesnt rock enough!

Bring back elvis! And MTW1 gameplay!

I suspect faction heir choosing might be back with a expansion. I wonder though, using a console command can one get a faction heir of choice?
