I was fighting some rebels in Asia Minor as the Greek Cities and ran into one battle where the enemy general routed and all but one hoplite in his unit ran off the map. The one guy was trying to run for his life except every few steps he would suddenly fly backwards and fall down. He would get up and take a few steps and then suddenly fly back and fall down. It repeated until I finally killed him about six more falls from the red line. :skull:

Anyone else run into this problem? It seems like the 'hit by calvalry' flag never got unflagged.

This happens all the time. Hoplite formations get a bit disrupted, a few soldiers end up 'sliding' away from the rest of the unit, and then much hilarity ensues as stupid hoplite backflips and stumbles his way around the map. I once had an amusing clip of one such hoplite backflipping about 20 times before finally rejoining his unit. Another hoplite issue also introduced since the 1.3 patch is the unit tries to reform itself after taking casualties and continously goes in and out of phalanx mode even if the enemy is attacking them at the time. They're just a couple of hoplite issues that CA never managed to fix.

Thanks. Are there any other weird things I should watch out for with these crazy hoplites?

Thanks. Are there any other weird things I should watch out for with these crazy hoplites? They can automatically make 18 ft spears disapear then reapear. like you go to charge an enemy unit with out phalanx on and the spears just go away. And then they can have em magically reappear.

That actually is a feature, when not in Phalanx mode, the phalanx unit automatically uses its secodary weapon (usually a sword) in the charge. However, most Hoplite units make rather poor swordsmen in vanilla RTW, so switching phalanx off isn´t exactly recommended. It´s useful in modding, though.
