I have a general who is abstemious (spelling?) and yet he is also a conessuir. While I suppose their not direct antitraits, it seems like one should bar the other.

Abstemious of drink, or of consumption in general? A connoisseur of food, or food and drink in general?

What do the descriptions say? If they conflict we may need to alter them.

Abstemious of even the smallest alcoholic pleasures, however he is a connoisseur of life's finest pleasures, value means nothing to him. He is also extravagent, spending wildy for whatever pleases him. I just don't see a guy who refrains from even a drop of drink also partaking of life's finest pleasures, price be damned. Technically there is no conflict, just kinda seems odd to me. I would expect the guy to more spartanesque.

Actually, it's possible - look at Donald Trump. It's certainly safe to say he's a connoisseur, and he's definitely abstemious - he refuses to drink alcohol and thinks poorly of people who do.
