View Full Version : Do you rename cities you conquer?
Now that settlements can be renamed (click on their name in the info panel), I'm curious to know if other players use this feature. I am renaming everything to Italian in my current Venice campaign.
Anyone use them for something useful ? (e.g renaming your assassin-producing city to Assassinopolis)
I rename them to their actual name. In the beginning of the campaign I had -Spies, -Assassins, suffixes, removed later as you tend to remember what's where after a while (like 150 turns lol).

Nope, I really can't be bothered.
I tend to tack on guild names to the city names so I'd know which guilds were where. So far, I haven't found a place to get a list of guilds in your empire.

Had I known it could be done earlier, maybe. As it is, I've begun to solidify the city names in my head, so it would cause too much confusion to start changing them.

I always imagined myself doing it more often, but in the end I simply forget to do it. Or I simply don't know what to re-name it as.
Oh well, love the feature though - bound to use it [somewhere] in the near future ~;)

I usually change the overtly Chrtistian names to a more Islamic name when playing a Muslim faction. For example, as the Turks, when I captured Constantinople, I renamed it Istanbul. When I took Rome, I renamed it New Istanbul. Not very creative...

I tend to merely give them suffixes relating to the long term plan (guild I want here, type of troops it specializes in, which is planned to become a city/castle further down the line, which is supposed to never have a governor etc...).
I had no idea you could do that!!
Thanks!
/me runs off to try it
I tend to do like kobal2fr said. I use the rename function to add notes to the city name bar to help me keep organized.

When i found out you could, i did for a few, so it was more like RTW. But you begin to remember where everything is.. I will definatley rename Florence though, always will. And Naples along with Milan Venice and Bolognoa.
